B4U Exclusive - "Phenomenal Actor": Rajkummar Rao's Big Praise For 'Guns & Gulaabs' Co-Star Adarsh Gourav
In an exclusive interview with Salil Acharya on B4U, Rajkummar Rao spoke about his latest show 'Guns & Gulaabs'.
Rajkummar Rao is one of the finest actors of this generation in India. Be it 'Shahid', 'Newton' 'Stree', 'Badhai Do' or 'Trapped', Rajkummar Rao has time and time again, shown his acting range and has managed to carve out a niche for himself. In the latest entertainment news, the actor is earning praise for his performance as 'Tipu' in the latest Netflix show 'Guns & Gulaabs', directed by Raj and DK. The multi-starrer boasts of an impressive cast, including the likes of Dulquer Salmaan, Gulshan Devaiah, and Adarsh Gourav.
The actor sat down for an exclusive interview with Salil Acharya on B4U show Star Stop, and it was here that he spoke about working with Raj and DK, and he also had some high praise for his co-stars, particularly Adarsh Gourav.
"I worked with Adarsh Gourav in 'The White Tiger', he is a phenomenal actor. One of the most hardworking actors of our time, I love him. Great boy also. Gulshan Devaiah, Dulquer Salmaan, great people yaar. Dulquer Salmaan is choosing right scripts, he is choosing such different work across languages, which is great. I saw 'Sita Ramam', I think he was brilliant in that," Rajkummar Rao said.
When asked about his experience of working with Raj and DK, Rajkummar Rao said: "Just to be able to work with Raj and DK, and be on that same set, it was fun. We have been friends for years now, and really thick and close friends.
For the unversed, Raj and DK had earlier written the script for Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor-starrer 'Stree' and it had become a huge hit.
Lastly, when asked whether he takes pressure of his new project being better than his previous work, Rajkummar Rao said: "It depends on the script. But yeah, as long as that love is there with that much purity, there will be growth. Can't deny that. And for me, it is not about putting any extra effort ki pichle kaam se better hona chahiye, it is doing this work also very sincerely and then it depends on the character and script. That's makes it your best work ki script is such that it makes it your best work. So for me, it is still the same sincerity with which I started with in 2010 with 'LSD' which was my first film."
"Maza usme me hi hai yaar ki aap khud ko push kar sakte ho. With Raj & DK's 'Guns And Gulaabs', I have done a small town character earlier and it is about how to make it different, iska quirk alag hai, iska humour alag hai," he added.
Talking about 'Guns & Gulaabs', the series is set in the fictitious town of Gulaabganj and it has been designed as an ode to 1990s Bollywood. The series follows a lovestruck mechanic (Rajkummar Rao), a reluctant heir to a ruling gang (Adarsh Gourav), and an honest officer-turned-agent-of-chaos (Dulquer Salmaan).
