Actress Urvashi Rautela has confirmed starring in a biopic based on the life of Parveen Babi. The actress, who recently made an appearance at the Cannes Film Festival 2023, took to social media to confirm the news. Urvashi Rautela shared a brief about the late actress and in her caption, she also claimed that "Bollywood failed Parveen Babi."

“Bollywood Failed #ParveenBabi but I will make you proud #PB ~ UR Om Namah Shivay. Trust the magic of new beginnings,” Urvashi Rautela wrote as the caption on Instagram.

The still shared by Urvashi Rautela contained the “story line” of the Parveen Babi biopic in Hindi and it stated how the actress' professional life was as much as in the news as her personal life.

As per the still shared by Urvashi Rautela, the biopic would be directed by Wasim S Khan while Dhiraj Mishra is serving as the writer. The note was also stamped with the Screenwriter Associations’ submission logo.

For the unversed, before going to Cannes 2023, Urvashi Rautela had claimed that she would be attending the event for the photocall launch of the Parveen Babi biopic.

However, during her time at Cannes 2023, the actress did not speak about the project and a report in Hindustan Times quoted many industry insiders, saying there is no buzz yet about the Parveen Babi biopic.

“It is very clear that she is lying, and it is bogus news. There is no such project being made. There are no conversations around any such project in the trade circuit too,” Hindustan Times quoted a source as saying.

“Also, a photocall launch without anyone from the makers side is just not possible. So, Urvashi was there all by herself, there was no producer, writer, director… So what is this photocall launch? It shows how much truth is in her claim. She has not even revealed the names of the makers. She could have said that she wants to do, or is thinking of doing, but alleging that it is being made without the name of the team is definitely not credible,” the source told Hindustan Times.

Talking about Parveen Babi, the actress is remembered for her roles in 'Amar Akbar Anthony', 'Deewar', 'Shaan' and 'Namak Halaal'.

Parveen Babi passed away in 2005 after suffering a multiple organ failure.

Kangana Ranaut's movie 'Woh Lamhe' was loosely based on the late actress' life.
