Boman Irani recently opened up about his experience working with Shah Rukh Khan. While he had nothing but praise for the superstar’s charm, generosity, and energy on set, he also had one light-hearted complaint. In a chat with Humans of Bombay, the ‘Happy New Year’ actor revealed that SRK is a complete delight to work with – except when it comes to food. From playing games with the crew to keeping his suite open to everyone, Shah Rukh is adored by all – but his ultra-simple eating habits, Boman said, are “extremely boring.”

In the interview, Boman Irani described Shah Rukh Khan as someone who thrives on the collaborative energy of a film set. Shah Rukh and Boman have worked together in movies like 'Main Hoon Na' and 'Happy New Year', among others.

He shared, “Shah Rukh (Khan) enjoys being on a set. He enjoys being with people. He enjoys the collective nature of creating a movie. For me, there is really a naughty side to him. He is very giving. He is very big hearted.”

Explaining his statement, Boman Irani added, “His suite door will always be open. There will be all the snacks on one side. People walk in and walk out, pick up snacks. He plays games with them when he has the time. The set is always fun.”

Boman also emphasized that Shah Rukh Khan is one of his top five favourite co-stars of all time. “If I have to make a list of my favourite moments from set and off-set, I think Shah Rukh will be in the top five. Straight up. There is no question about it,” he said.

Explaining one of the reasons behind SRK being his favourite person, Boman shared, “Sometimes, when we are performing… and things go wrong, we find it funny. Rather than be desperate. That’s a great talent to have. We know we will get there. He knows he will.”

The veteran actor also admired how SRK never lets his co-actors feel overwhelmed by his superstar aura. “Shah Rukh doesn’t allow you to think like that with him. He doesn’t allow you to get there,” he said.

But the one area where Boman Irani finds SRK lacking? Food. The actor explained, “He is extremely boring. He only eats tandoor chicken and nothing else. He is not a restaurant kinda guy. He will come with us, but he won’t eat. The food is lying over there, he is talking and it is getting cold and everybody is enjoying a lovely meal par Shah Rukh ko koi farq nahi padta. So I do have a problem there. He doesn’t give me a company when it comes to food.”

This aligns with Shah Rukh’s own past comments. In a previous interview with RJ Devangana, he had admitted, “I naturally prefer very simple food. I eat two meals a day: lunch and dinner. I eat nothing apart from these two meals. Mujhe pakwan pasand nahi. I eat sprouts, grilled chicken, broccoli, sometimes a little bit of dal. This is all I have been eating repeatedly on a daily basis for several years,” he had said, while adding that he doesn’t diet.

Turns out, being one of the biggest stars in the world doesn’t require a big appetite – at least not for food.
