Adipurush to premiere at Tribeca Film Festival
All Indian Cine Workers Association has written to PM Narendra Modi, "demanding a ban" on Om Raut's 'Adipurush'.

The discourse surrounding Om Raut's new Hindi movie 'Adipurush' is getting uglier by the minute. The new Hindi movie which is said to be based on the epic 'Ramayana', stars Prabhas, Saif Ali Khan, Kriti Sanon, Devdatta Nage and Sunny Singh in lead roles. The new Hindi movie which released in theatres on June 16 is being bashed left, right and centre for "distorting and disrespecting" Ramayana. Now in the latest entertainment news, All Indian Cine Workers Association has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, "demanding a ban" on 'Adipurush'

In the letter, the association has also asked for a FIR to be registered against director Om Raut and dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir Shukla.

"All Indian Cine Workers Association Demands Ban on Screening the Movie Adipurush, This Movies screenplay and dialogues are clearly defaming the Image of Lord Ram and Lord Hanuman. Adipurush Movie is Hurting religious Sentiment's of Hindus and Sanatan Dharma. Prabhu Shri Ram is a God for everyone in India not matter what religious faith one comes from, this Movie Depicts lord Ram and even Ravan who looks like a Character of a video game, with dialogues hurting every Indian in the country and across the Globe," they wrote in their letter.

"We request Hon'ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji order to stop screening this Movie and immediately order a Ban of Adipurush Screening in the Theatres and OTT platforms in the Future. We need FIR against the Director (Om Raut), Writer (Manoj Muntasir Shukla ) & the Producers of the Movie who have hurted the Hindu Sentiments and Save the Image of our Bhagwan Shri Ram, Maa Sita & Ramsevak Bhaghwan Hanuman. Actor Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and Saif Ali khan shouldn't have been part of such a disgraceful movie ever made in the history of Indian Cinema, Adipurush is a complete disaster of our faith in Shri Ram and Ramayan," they said further.

Earlier, dialogue writer Manoj Muntashir in an interview with Aaj Tak, explained the approach on crafting the characters of Lord Rama and Hanuman. For the unversed, the new Hindi movie is in the middle of a controversy for poor dialogues handed to the character of Lord Hanuman.

"When you watch the film, you will have no complaints. You will realise that Hanuman was a childlike character. He wasn’t philosophical like Rama. Yes, Hanuman was wise, he was strong, he was intelligent, but when he spoke, he spoke like a child, and that is how we’ve approached the character. Having said that, my depiction of the character shouldn’t be written in stone," he added.

Earlier, Nepal's Kathmandu and Pokhara had ordered that the screening of all Hindi films would be stopped in the region until the makers of 'Adipurush' don't change the dialogue "Janaki is the daughter of India."

T-Series has now written a letter to Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah, saying the mistake has been corrected and assured that the error was not intentional.

Earlier, Union Minister Anurag Thakur had also said that no one has the right to hurt the sentiments of people. Delhi BJP spokesperson Praveen Shankar Kapoor has also demanded a temporary ban on the screening of the new Hindi movie, until the scenes and dialogues are re-examined.

The new Hindi movie, starring Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, Saif Ali Khan, Devdatta Nage and Sunny Singh, failed the Monday test as it witnessed a drop in collections by a whopping 75 per cent. As per a report in Box Office India, the Hindi collections were in the range of Rs 8-9 crore net on Monday.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh said that the "negative word of mouth" has come into play, and hence 'Adipurush' collapsed on Monday.
