Yes, you read that right! Diljit Dosanjh became the first Punjabi musician to perform at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. The official X (formerly Twitter) handle of Rogers Place tweeted about Diljit Dosanjh’s show.

Diljit Dosanjh, who was last seen on the silver screen in the 2024 Hindi movie ‘Crew’, responded to the tweet.

Diljit Dosanjh embarked on his journey in the entertainment industry through Punjabi music, enchanting audiences with his songs.
His silver screen debut arrived in 2011 with the Punjabi film ‘The Lion of Punjab’. However, it was his portrayal of a cop in the acclaimed Bollywood film ‘Udta Punjab’ (2016) that propelled him to widespread acclaim and national prominence.
He was last seen in the new Netflix movie ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’, co-starring Parineeti Chopra. The film, directed by Imtiaz Ali, has been produced by Mohit Choudhary, Select Media Holdings LLP, Saregama, and Window Seat Films.
For the unversed, the film tells the untold true story of Punjab’s original rockstar, the highest record-selling artist of his time, Amar Singh Chamkila, who is often referred to as the ‘Elvis Presley of Punjab’.
In the film, Diljit Dosanjh is playing the titular character and Parineeti Chopra stars as Amarjot, Chamkila’s wife and singing partner.
For the unversed, Amar Singh Chamkila and his wife Amarjot were gunned down on March 8, 1988 by a gang of motorcyclists. The case was never solved, and no arrest was made. However, it was alleged that Sikh militants were behind the killings.
