Here's what 'Dune' director Denis Villeneuve had to say about Ranbir Kapoor’s acting after watching the Hindi film ‘Raajneeti’.
Ranbir Kapoor is one of the most versatile Bollywood actors and the superstar enjoys a massive fan base. Right from the starting of his career, the 'Animal' actor has starred in several memorable projects, showcasing his diverse range. In the early years of his career, Ranbir Kapoor played a key role in Prakash Jha's 'Raajneeti', which also starred Ajay Devgn, Katrina Kaif, Manoj Bajpayee, Arjun Rampal, and more. And the film now has the approval of 'Dune' filmmaker Denis Villeneuve.
Deepti D’Cunha, a film programmer, who is known for managing various film festivals and curating movies, has revealed that long before making the switch to Hollywood, Denis Villeneuve had told her about how he watched his first Hindi film, which happened to be 'Raajneeti'.
Taking to X, Deepti shared a picture of Denis Villeneuve’s signature on a film festival catalogue, saying, “Browsing through old film festival catalogues, I found Denis Villeneuve’s autograph (yes! before selfie days). He had come to premiere Incendies at Abu Dhabi Film Festival – 2010, and I remember the wonderful conversation we had because he’d just watched his first Indian film.”
“Which happened to be Raajneeti, and (he) was very impressed by Ranbir Kapoor and wanted to know more about him. He said he is a wonderful actor and stood out among such an ensemble cast. A fond memory of chatting with him & amazing now to see Denis helming such huge Hollywood films," she added.
