‘Dunki’ Becomes Shah Rukh Khan's 4th-Biggest Hit, Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’ Is Now 3rd-Biggest Telugu Film

Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Dunki’ and Prabhas’ ‘Salaar’ continue to make money at the global box office.

Shah Rukh Khan's third release of 2023 ‘Dunki’, which marks his maiden collaboration with ace filmmaker Rajkumar Hirani, is slowly and steadily collecting money at the box office. On its second Wednesday, the new Hindi movie minted Rs 3.30 crore, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 203.92 crore. On Wednesday, ‘Dunki’ had an overall 11.83 per cent occupancy. For the unversed, ‘Dunki’ released in theatres on December 21, 2023, a day prior to Prabhas-starrer ‘Salaar: Part One – Ceasefire’.

‘Dunki’ has gone past Rs 409 crore at the worldwide box office, and it has outperformed ‘Dilwale’, which had made Rs 394 crore globally. With this, ‘Dunki’ has become the fourth-highest grossing film of SRK's career, trailing behind ‘Jawan’, ‘Pathaan’ and ‘Chennai Express’.

For the unversed, ‘Dunki’ also stars Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, Anil Grover and Vikram Kochhar.

‘Dunki’ marked Rajkumar Hirani's return to filmmaking after a five-year gap since his last project, ‘Sanju’, in 2018.

Talking about Prashanth Neel's ‘Salaar: Part One – Ceasefire’, it also stars Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shruti Haasan. The new Telugu film minted Rs 5.25 crore on its second Wednesday, taking the domestic collection to Rs 373.57 crore.

As per trade analyst Manobala Vijayabalan, ‘Salaar’ has crossed the Rs 650 crore mark worldwide, making it the third Telugu film after ‘Baahubali 2’ and ‘RRR’ to cross that benchmark.

‘RRR’ had made Rs 1,230 crore, and ‘Baahubali 2’, which also starred Prabhas, had minted Rs 1,788 crore worldwide.

‘Salaar’ has come as a much-needed respite for Prabhas after he delivered a string of flops. He will next be seen in Nag Ashwin's ‘Kalki 2898 AD’ alongside Amitabh Bachchan, Deepika Padukone and Kamal Haasan. The actor will also be seen in Sandeep Reddy Vanga's ‘Spirit’.
