Emraan Hashmi opened up about ‘Tiger 3’, his controversial comments on ‘Koffee With Karan’, and SRK's recent birthday bash.

Emraan Hashmi, who can be currently seen in the new Hindi movie ‘Tiger 3’, made his acting debut in 2003 with ‘Footpath’ but rose to fame with the 2004 film ‘Murder’. Known for his intense and unconventional roles, he has been part of diverse genres, including thrillers, romantic dramas, and comedies. He gained widespread recognition after starring in movies like ‘Gangster’, ‘Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai’, ‘Jannat’, ‘Awarapan’, and ‘The Dirty Picture’. Despite being labelled as the “serial kisser” early in his career, he has successfully broken away from that image, showcasing his versatility as an actor.

Despite being in the entertainment industry for two decades now, Emraan Hashmi is seldom seen in the public eye. Recently, Emraan Hashmi spoke about his new Hindi movie ‘Tiger 3’ in an interview with ANI. ‘Tiger 3’, co-starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, released in theatres on Diwali 2023.

Emraan Hashmi, who took on the role of the antagonist in the third ‘Tiger’ installment, spoke about his initial scepticism about playing the villain in the new Hindi movie. In the interview, he also said that working alongside Salman Khan didn't leave him feeling “intimidated”.

The Bollywood actor said, “I was honestly a little skeptical, because when you hear the word ‘antagonist’, certain preconceived notions emerge in your mind. I’ve generally played positive characters, some grey characters.”

Emraan Hashmi further said that he was impressed by the “depth, nuance, and attention to detail” that the character had been written with.

The actor also revealed that he had nearly collaborated with Salman Khan on multiple occasions in the past.

“I’ve known Salman for quite some time; he’s fond of me, and I’m fond of him. I wasn’t intimidated. You generally get intimidated when you don’t know your co-star; it happened to me when I worked with Amitabh Bachchan, but not here,” Emraan Hashmi said.

In an interview with Zoom Entertainment, Emraan Hashmi also spoke about his past appearance on Karan Johar’s chat show ‘Koffee With Karan’.

The Bollywood actor revealed that he “made enemies” after appearing in ‘KWK’ nearly a decade ago, after he made some controversial remarks about actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, his uncle Mahesh Bhatt, and his ‘Murder’ co-star Mallika Sherawat.

Emraan Hashmi said, “You end up making many enemies.” Asked if that’s why he doesn’t go on shows any more, he said, “It’s too much to handle.”

However, the Bollywood actor denied that he has become softer, and said, “If I go on Koffee with Karan again, I’ll make a mess of things again. I’ll probably be worse-off in the rapid fire round than I was before.”

He added, “I don’t have anything against these people. I just wanted to win the hamper. And then you say weird things.”

Following his ‘KWK’ appearance, Emraan Hashmi had to issue a public apology after calling Aishwarya Rai Bachchan “plastic” on the uber-popular talk show.

Talking about it, he said, “I didn’t mean it. I’m a big fan of Aishwarya. It’s the format of the show. I can’t not say things and not win the hamper. I love her. I have always been a great admirer of her work. I knew people would make a big deal out of it… so what, people make a big deal out of nonsense all the time.”

On the same episode, Emraan Hashmi declared that Mallika Sherawat was his “worst” on-screen kiss ever.

In the same interview with Zoom Entertainment, Emraan Hashmi also spoke about Shah Rukh Khan’s grand birthday bash recently. He said, “I didn’t stay beyond 12, because I get up at 6:30, 7 in the morning.”

Emraan Hashmi added, “I was never a big fan of parties. I don’t know why. They just don’t do anything for me. I don’t drink, therein lies the biggest problem. And I don’t make film industry small talk. The last thing I want to do is talk shop after pack-up.”

The Indian actor also said that he doesn’t go to film screenings because you’re “obliged to come out and praise. I can’t if I don’t like it. It’s not like I go in to hate a film, what if I don’t? I can’t lie about it. It shows on my face. No malice intended.”

Emraan Hashmi can currently be seen in ‘Tiger 3’. Directed by Maneesh Sharma, ‘Tiger 3’ is performing well at the box office. The new Hindi movie has so far earned Rs 187.65 crore in India. As per TOI, it is approaching the Rs 300 crore mark at the global box office, with the overseas market contributing Rs 68 crore.
