Esha Deol recently opened up about her father Dharmendra’s reluctance to let her join the Indian film industry.

Veteran star Dharmendra’s children express their love for their doting father from time to time through their social media posts. Among them, Esha Deol is often seen treating her social media followers to priceless throwback gems featuring Dharmendra and her mother and actress Hema Malini. Now, the ‘Dhoom’ actress opened up about her bond with Dharmendra. The actress also candidly talked about facing resistance from the veteran actor initially, when she decided to enter Bollywood. In a recent interview with ETimes, she revealed that Dharmendra was protective of her and hence did not want her to join Bollywood.

Opening up about how the ‘Sholay’ actor was not keen on her joining the film industry, Esha Deol told ETimes, "It comes from him being an orthodox Punjabi male; they are known to be very protective of the women in their families. This is sort of a way of showing how protective he is and nothing else. Time takes its course, and everything falls into place eventually."

In the same interview, Esha Deol also acknowledged the role of women in her life and how they contributed to her decision to becoming financially independent.

"I grew up in a household filled with a lot of women power — from my grandmother, aunt, cousins, and mom. A lot of women around us are very strong-headed and work-oriented. That's the atmosphere I grew up in, so, automatically the fact that at 18, I chose to start working and being financially independent comes a lot from there," Esha Deol said.

Further speaking about how she would not come in between the decisions that her children will make in the future, Esha Deol added, "I won’t interfere in the decisions my children make in terms of their professional choices but only encourage them and be a strong pillar of support for them. The way my grandmother was with my mother.”

For the unversed, Esha Deol got married to Bharat Takhtani in 2012, with whom she shares two daughters Radhya Takhtani and Miraya Takhtani.

Meanwhile, the Deol family has been stealing all the limelight ever since Sunny Deol's son Karan got married in June to his long-term girlfriend Drisha Acharya. The absence of Dharmendra's second wife Hema Malini along with her daughters made headlines.

Things took a turn for the better after Esha Deol was seen posing with her half-brothers Sunny and Bobby Deol at a special ‘Gadar 2’ screening hosted by her.
