“Woh Hota Toh…”: Farah Khan Brings In Shah Rukh When Asked About ‘Tees Maar Khan’ Tanking
Calling Shah Rukh Khan her lucky mascot, Farah Khan revealed that whenever she makes a movie in the future, it will only be with him.
Farah Khan and Shah Rukh Khan’s collaboration has been quite a fruitful one. The duo has worked together in three films, with all doing well at the box-office. For Farah Khan, the only box office flop came in the form of ‘Tees Maar Khan’, a movie that didn’t have Shah Rukh Khan in it. Speaking about ‘Tees Maar Khan’, the Bollywood director said that she found the movie funny, but her destiny seems to be fused with Shah Rukh Khan, and the movie could have worked if he was in it. Calling SRK her lucky mascot, Farah Khan also revealed when she makes a movie in the future, it will only be with him.
‘Tees Maar Khan’ had starred Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif and Akshaye Khanna. The movie made a total net collection of just Rs 60.96 crore.
“Merko bhi bahut funny lagi thi. Meri kismat shayad Shah Rukh ke saath hi likhi hui hai. Woh hota toh…but bahut funny picture hai. (I found it very funny. But my destiny is mingled with Shah Rukh. If he was there…but it was a funny movie),” Farah Khan said on the YouTube show ‘Long Drive With Mr. Faisu’
Farah Khan had made her directorial debut in 2004 with ‘Main Hoon Na’, which starred Shah Rukh Khan, Sushmita Sen, Zayed Khan and Amrita Rao.
The movie was a smashing success and is still talked about fondly by fans.
Speaking about ‘Main Hoon Na’, Farah Khan credited the movie’s success to Shah Rukh Khan.
“Merko laga tha ‘Sholay’ toh main hi bana rahi hun. I was so excited to make that movie, Shah Rukh was also so happy. Bahut hi acha maahol tha. Sabko lagta tha yeh picture mindblowing hai. Jab release hui toh mujhe laga itni nahi chali jitna chalna chahiye tha. But uska joh after-effect, 20 saal hone ko aaya. Uska success bahut time ke baad maine enjoy kara. (The atmosphere on the set was very nice. Everyone thought the movie would be mindblowing. When it released, I thought it should have done even better. But it boomed afterwards and nearly 20 years have been completed. I enjoyed the movie’s success after a bit of a gap),” Farah Khan said.
When asked if the reason why Main Hoon Na worked was because of Shah Rukh Khan’s presence in the movie, Farah replied, “100 per cent”.
“Abhi bhi lagta hai mujhe ki agar main (movie) banaungi toh sirf Shah Rukh ke saath. Mujhe pata hai 1000 per cent ki chalna hi, chalna hai. Bade hi time lelo, ruk jao baitho. For me, he is my lucky mascot (Even now, if I make a movie then it will be with only Shah Rukh. I know it will work 1000 per cent),” she added.
Farah Khan’s last directorial venture had also featured Shah Rukh Khan, in the movie ‘Happy New Year’. While the movie didn’t win over the entire audience, it certainly was a box-office hit, making nearly Rs 400 crore worldwide.
