She debunked this notion by sharing the story of her own journey, clarifying that actors are not always rich. The actress revealed that she is currently living in a rented house and her journey as a celebrity continues to be a struggle.
In an interview with Humans of Cinema, Fatima said, “I come from very low middle class family. I come from a place where we used to live in a 1RK on the ground floor which was a parking basement turned into a house. So, it’s been a process. I am proud of myself. It is not like I have purchased a house. I live in a rented house. At least I have crossed the milestones which I wanted to while I was struggling and I am still struggling. This process never stops and the struggle never ends.”
“You are constantly looking for good work and you are constantly fighting your own instinct – ‘Should I work for money or wait.’ So, you also change according to your needs and wants. If I want to pay my bills and loans, I have to do the things I don’t want to do. One has to work for survival. When you have luxury, enough financial safety, only then you can choose to do things that make you happy as an actor. But sometimes you don’t have that choice," she added.
In the interview, Fatima Sana Shaikh also said that she is a big Shah Rukh Khan fan, but Aamir Khan has given the audience “different” films.
“I am a Shah Rukh Khan fan, but I feel Aamir Khan has given us a lot of films like Rang De Basanti, PK, Peepli Live, all of these films are so different," said the 'Thugs of Hindostan' actress.
For the uninitiated, Aamir Khan and Fatima Sana Shaikh have been linked to each other for years since their movie 'Dangal' released in the theatres.
The duo has always denied the rumours, however, speculation gathered steam after Aamir Khan announced his divorce with Kiran Rao, his second wife.
Aamir Khan and Fatima Sana Shaikh were recently spotted playing pickleball together.
The actress will next be seen in Meghana Gulzar’s 'Sam Bahadur'. Vicky Kaushal will be playing the role of Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw in the upcoming film.
