Indian actor Gulshan Devaiah, who is currently basking in the success of his latest OTT release ‘Guns and Gulaabs’, recently opened up about his favourite comedy actors. In an interview with the YouTube channel IVM Pop, Gulshan Devaiah was asked to list out his favourite comedians, and the actor said, “Mehmood, Govinda, Vadivelu from Tamil industry, Bharti Achrekar, and Ranbir Kapoor.” Wondering why Gulshan Devaiah took Ranbir Kapoor’s name? The actor said that Ranbir Kapoor is “really interesting” when he does comedy.

Gulshan Devaiah went on to say, “Even in Barfi… physical comedy.”

However, when the interviewer suggested that Ranbir Kapoor did well in the 2013 film ‘Besharam’ too, Gulshan Devaiah said, “I am really sorry that… I like everyone associated with the film, but it is just trails off.”

He then added, “I really don’t know, yaar. It’s just bizarre sometimes how such wonderful and talented people come together and get it so completely off-the-charts-wrong… Sometimes that’s what happens. You can’t tell… like how you can’t tell whether the film is going to be hit or not… you can’t tell.”

Gulshan Devaiah shared how he had so much hope for ‘Besharam’, which eventually turned out to be a huge disappointment.

He said, “So, I was very surprised. When I saw the poster, in which he was sitting in the dickey… I was like ‘What’s is going on!’ And Ranbir Kapoor was white hot. Like Rockstar and Barfi!… anything he touched was platinum. He was the most sought-after actor then.”

The actor added, “Everyone wanted to work with him, they were throwing money at him. When there was Dabangg director and all that, he was a different kind of emerging star. So, it seemed like the right choice. Nearly, everything about the film until the actual film came out seemed so good.”

Gulshan Devaiah was also asked whether he agrees that Shah Rukh Khan is the last superstar.  He said, “That really depends. I don’t know. I don’t know if I fully agree or disagree with it. To some extent, yes. There are two kinds of fame in the entertainment industry. One is where the audience loves you. Two, where they love your work and the characters. Looking through that lens, people love Shah Rukh Khan. Yes, his work too, but it is always him. It’s like ‘This is Shah Rukh ki picture’.”

“I am not discrediting those who have achieved it in TV or OTT. I want that success for myself as well. So, I am not taking away anything from them. I am just being realistic. Nothing beats the theatrical stardom. That kind of stardom will not be around for some time,” he concluded.

Gulshan Devaiah was recently seen in Hindi movie '8 AM Metro' alongside Saiyami Kher. He was also seen in Netflix show 'Guns & Gulaabs', which has been directed by Raj & DK.
