'Farzi' actor Shahid Kapoor has said that he finds it amusing how certain people just cannot stop speaking highly about themselves. The actor, who is known for giving acclaimed performances in movies like 'Kaminey', 'Haider', and 'Jab We Met', said that he believes in quiet ambition and letting his work do all the talking. Shahid Kapoor cited the example of former India batter Sachin Tendulkar, and how he always relied on his bat to do the talking.

“Everyone is promoting themselves. I don’t know, I find that a little odd. How can you praise yourself? I have not been brought up like that," Shahid Kapoor said in an interview with Film Companion.

“Yeh Hindustani culture nahi hai. I have seen it in other cultures We believe in kaam karo, chup raho, stay humble and respect seniors regardless of where you come from. That’s our kind of thinking. You need to talk about it loudly,” he added.

Shahid Kapoor said people are right when they point out that stars are no longer enigmatic.

“People say they are too accessible. I was feeling that for 10 years but no one was talking about it,” he said, while adding that there is no exclusivity.

The actor also revealed that he would take two-hour long showers after pack-up while filming for Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Kabir Singh', as he would be smoking two packs of cigarettes a day.

“I used to take a shower in my van before I got out of set. Because I used to smoke two packets of cigarettes a day! I was smelling of nicotine and I had just had my first baby and so I was in that fatherly mode. And I was like, ‘I don’t want my child to even smell nicotine," said Shahid Kapoor.

Shahid Kapoor said that he would smoke "on and off" but gave it up completely after 'Kabir Singh', which released in 2019.

“I actually gave up right after. I used to smoke on and off and I just stopped. So I’ve not smoked for over five, six years now. I don’t want my child to smell this on me,” he added.

'Kabir Singh' is the biggest grosser of Shahid Kapoor's career.
