John Abraham has come to the rescue of Karan Johar.

Director and producer Karan Johar is often targeted by trolls for constantly promoting nepotism within the film industry. Ibrahim Ali Khan and Khushi Kapoor-starrer 'Nadaaniyan' is receiving negative response from all corners and Karan Johar is being called out by fans for constantly giving chances to actors who have done little to prove themselves. Amidst all this chatter, Bollywood actor John Abraham has come to the rescue of the ‘My Name Is Khan’ director, calling him a “wonderful person”.

“The other person who I really love, and care about is Karan (Johar). I think he is one of the most wonderful people I have met. I don’t have any work with him in a long time, but he has always been there for me,” John Abraham told Filmfare.

John Abraham also revealed how Karan Johar was there for him when he made his comeback with ‘Parmanu’ after a gap of four years.

“I didn’t have a release for four years and obviously, as usual, my obituary was written. I wanted to show Parmanu to someone to get some kind of reaction and I called in Karan. I said, ‘Just see this film and just make sense of it and tell me’. He saw it and he advised ‘this is good, this is so not good’,” said John Abraham.

“There is a lot of criticism around Karan, but I am his strong supporter. I believe that he doesn’t deserve that,” he added.

Karan Johar and John Abraham have collaborated for films like ‘Kaal’ and ‘Dostana’. Both the films were bankrolled by Karan's Dharma Productions.

Speaking of John Abraham's latest release 'The Diplomat', the new Hindi film continues to do steady business in the theatres.

As per Sacnilk, the film earned Rs 1.50 crore on Monday, the fourth day of its release. The total nett domestic collection of the film now stands at Rs 14.80 crore.

Based on the real life story of Indian diplomat JP Singh and how he saved Uzma Ahmed, ‘The Diplomat’ is winning a lot of praise for staying true to its source material and not overplaying the patriotism card.

Directed by Shivam Nair, ‘The Diplomat’ also stars Sadia Khateeb, Kumud Mishra, Sharib Hashmi, and Revathi in key roles.

The film outperformed weekend collections of several Bollywood films, including ‘Superboys of Malegaon’ (Rs 1.82 crore), ‘Crazxy’ (Rs 3.75 crore), ‘Mere Husband Ki Biwi’ (Rs 4.45 crore), ‘Badass Ravi Kumar’ (Rs 6.15 crore), ‘Loveyapa’ (Rs 4.55 crore), and ‘Emergency’ (Rs 10.35 crore).
