Kangana Ranaut Calls Out Sonam Kapoor For Saying She Has “Questionable English”, Takes Dig At “Film Mafia” Again
Kangana Ranaut recently reacted to an old clip in which Sonam Kapoor said that Kangana has a great fashion sense but “questionable” command over English.
Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who is known to portray diverse roles with utmost perfection, has had quite a journey in the entertainment industry. She started her journey at a young age and proved her acting mettle with movies like ‘Gangster’ and ‘Who Lahme’. Kangana Ranaut later cemented her place as one of the most bankable actresses in Bollywood with films like ‘Queen’ and ‘Tanu Weds Manu Returns’. However, like every other outsider, Kangana Ranaut also dealt with her fair share of ups and downs.
Kangana Ranaut recently reflected on her early days in Bollywood by reacting to an old clip of Sonam Kapoor talking about her language skills.
Kangana, who is quite active on social media, posted a clip from an episode of ‘Koffee with Karan’ season three, in which host Karan Johar interacted with guests Sonam Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.
During the episode, Sonam praised Kangana’s fashion sense, but questioned her ability to speak English fluently.
Sharing the clip on her Instagram Story, Kangana Ranaut wrote, “What I learned from years of fights with film mafia is that no outsider will ever be mocked for not speaking English… also that show is officially closed forever.”
In another IG Story, Kangana Ranaut added, “Please don’t miss my comeback in the end. Even at 24 after being openly bullied, humiliated and mocked I showed grace sophistication articulation and humility which English-speaking gossipy aunties with so-called great upbringing can never.”
In the video, Karan Johar asked Sonam Kapoor, “If you have the power to give celebrities these aspects who would you give that to – the ability to speak English fluently.”
A hesitant Sonam replied, “Kangana has a great fashion sense, but…” Karan completed her answer, “Questionable English,” to which Sonam agreed.
The latter part of the clip shared by Kangana Ranaut showed her in a conversation with film journalist Anupama Chopra. In the interview, Kangana was asked about Sonam’s comments.
Kangana said in her response to Anupama Chopra, “I do feel hurt, eventually, I am just a 24-year-old who is trying to do her own thing and when people make my mistakes a focus and not my plus points, it does hurt.”
She added, “I am trying, where I came from, I groomed myself, and I constantly say I am trying to improve my language skills. It’s not like I am not trying.”
Kangana Ranaut, who has been on ‘Koffee with Karan’, often speaks against the talk show, and its host Karan Johar. Even during her appearance on the talk show, she had called him the “flag bearer of nepotism”.
Meanwhile, Kangana will next be seen in the film ‘Emergency’, in which she essays the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
Besides ‘Emergency’, she also has ‘Tejas’ in the pipeline. The film will hit theatres on October 20, 2023.
