Shah Rukh Khan returned to movies this year after his 2018 Bollywood film ‘Zero’ tanked at the box office. And what a comeback it is! In January 2023, he delivered a blockbuster hit in the form of ‘Pathaan’, which became the highest-grossing Hindi movie of all time. And he returned with his second release of the year, ‘Jawan’, which is already proving to be a box office winner. ‘Jawan’, which released in theatres on September 7, opened to good reviews and has already minted Rs 75 crore in India.

SRK is ruling social media with several of his scenes from ‘Jawan’ going viral. It was nothing short of a festival when the movie released, as it opened with a lot of fanfare and celebration.

From fans dancing in theatres to bursting firecrackers and throwing confetti in cinemas, ‘Jawan’ is receiving immense love from the audience.

Joining the chorus of admirers is Kangana Ranaut, who took to Instagram to applaud ‘Jawan’ and praise SRK for his reinvention at the age of 57. Kangana Ranaut shared a poster of ‘Jawan’ and called SRK the “cinema God” that India needs.

Apart from Kangana Ranaut, Mahesh Babu also praised Shah Rukh Khan and his performance in ‘Jawan’. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, he said SRK’s “aura, charisma and screen presence” are unmatched.

‘Jawan’ released in Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu languages. It also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Sanya Malhotra, Priyamani, Sunil Grover, Yogi Babu, and Ridhi Dogra, among others. Directed by Atlee and produced by Red Chillies Entertainment, the movie features Deepika Padukone and Sanjay Dutt in cameo appearances.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, ‘Jawan’ earned Rs 75 crore nett in India on its first day for all languages, as per early estimates. The film earned Rs 65 crore nett in Hindi, Rs 5 crore nett in Tamil and Rs 5 crore nett in Telugu.

With this, SRK has beaten his own record as ‘Jawan’ has overtaken ‘Pathaan’ to deliver the biggest opening ever for a Hindi-language film. ‘Pathaan’ made Rs 57 crore on its opening day, and ultimately finished its run with Rs 543 crore.

Coming back to Kangana Ranaut, she will be seen in ‘Emergency’, a political drama where she will portray the role of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi. 

Kangana will also star in ‘Tejas’, in which she will play the role of an Air Force pilot. The actress has the Tamil film ‘Chandramukhi 2’ in the pipeline as well.
