Kangana Ranaut Says "No One Asked For A Ban On Laal Singh Chaddha", Shabana Azmi’s Epic Response
Kangana Ranaut said that "no one asked for a ban on 'Laal Singh Chaddha', following which veteran actress Shabana Azmi came up with an epic response.
Sudipto Sen's 'The Kerala Story' continues to remain in the news. The new Hindi movie has turned to be truly polarising with some appreciating the subject matter, while the others are finding it offensive towards one community. In the latest entertainment news, 'The Kerala Story' was banned by the state government of West Bengal while it has been pulled out of theatres in Tamil Nadu amid a threat of protests. Amidst all this noise, veteran actress Shabana Azmi tweeted saying that banning the new Hindi movie would be wrong. She used Aamir Khan's 'Laal Singh Chaddha' as an example.
'Queen' actress Kangana Ranaut then jumped into the conversation, saying no one called for a ban on 'Laal Singh Chaddha', it was just about people not wanting to go to the theatres.
“This is a very valid point except for the fact that no one asked for a ban on LSC people just didn’t want to see it for many reasons, major reason was it was a remake of a very popular old Hollywood classic which most people had already seen," tweeted Kangana Ranaut.

However, without taking anyone's name, Shabana Azmi seemed to have fact checked Kangana Ranaut, as she shared a screenshot of a news article that stated a PIL had been filed demanding the ban of 'Laal Singh Chaddha'.
"So twiterratis who are saying there was only boycotting of LSC and no call for ban kindly refresh your memory . There was a PIL asking for ban," Shabana Azmi tweeted.

On Monday, 'The Kerala Story' producer Vipul Amrutlal Shah said that he would be taking legal action against the ban imposed by West Bengal state government on his movie.
“If that’s what she has done, then we will again take legal action. Whatever is possible under the provisions of the law, we will do that,” Shah said at a press conference when asked about the ban in West Bengal, as reported by news agency PTI.
“In Tamil Nadu, one individual has threatened and forced the government to stop the release. I’m requesting the government ensure that the film is released since the honourable court has already given the order. It is the state government’s duty to ensure a smooth and fair release of the film. Let people decide whether they want to see it. But this is a completely unacceptable situation,” he added.
'The Kerala Story' despite getting negative reviews, continues to make money at the box office and the movie is nearing the Rs 50 crore mark at the domestic box office.
