Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh-Starrer ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’ Getting Sequel? Karan Johar Spills The Beans
Karan Johar revealed where Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s characters from ‘RRKPK’ will live after their marriage while spilling the beans on the possibility of the movie getting a sequel.
Karan Johar’s ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’, which marks the reunion of Alia Bhatt and Ranveer Singh after starring in the 2019 hit film ‘Gully Boy’, has been riding on the positive word of mouth. The new Hindi movie has already collected Rs 60.22 crore domestically and also entered the Rs 100 crore club globally. This is an impressive feat to achieve for the family entertainer as it is facing competition from two Hollywood movies – Christopher Nolan’s ‘Oppenheimer’ and Greta Gerwig’s ‘Barbie’.
In a conversation with Anupama Chopra on Film Companion, Karan Johar spoke about a possible sequel to ‘Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani’. He also talked about where Alia and Ranveer’s characters will live after their marriage.
He said, “I definitely think Rani would not move into Randhawa Paradise. I think that the Chatterjees wouldn’t mind her moving out. I think they would move into a separate home. They both get along well enough with each other’s families to now create a world of their own. So, in my head neither does Rani move to Rocky’s or Rocky move to Rani’s, they have a place of their own. But in my head, I think Rani would do the place up, she wouldn't depend on Rocky’s aesthetics. But Rocky wouldn’t stop being Rocky.”
Talking about a potential sequel, he added, “You know, we discussed a part two. We used to chat about it; Alia, Ranveer and me. These two deserve a spinoff, and I was like, ‘Who knows?’ We imagined a story, we actually have a kind of a story… It’s too nascent a thought, but definitely I see Rocky and Rani living somewhere in Delhi, but away from their parents. Because now, even though they know the backseat driving is being done by the family, they’re okay, they’re at least in control of the front seat.”
From a star-studded cast to lavish houses, snow-clad mountains, amazing costumes, swanky cars, families and their values – the KJo film has been winning the hearts of the masses as they feel it is a complete package of entertainment.
The new Hindi movie also stars Shabana Azmi, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Churni Ganguly, Aamir Bashir, Kshitee Jog and Anjali Anand.
It revolves around two opposites, Rocky (played by Ranveer Singh) and Rani (played by Alia Bhatt), who fall in love but their families clash with each other due to cultural differences. They decide to switch their homes in the movie to know if they are compatible with each other’s families.
Penned by Ishita Moitra, Shashank Khaitan and Sumit Roy, ‘RRKPK’ also features cameos from Varun Dhawan, Janhvi Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Ananya Panday.
