Shanaya Kapoor To Make Her OTT Debut With Karan Johar’s ‘Student Of The Year 3’: Report
According to a news media report, Karan Johar is set to launch Shanaya Kapoor in the OTT space with ‘Student of the Year 3’.
Shanaya Kapoor, the daughter of Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor, has been making headlines recently after she joined the cast of Mohanlal’s next pan-India film ‘Vrushabha’. Looks like Shanaya Kapoor is on a roll. Just days after the news of her pan-India debut, it is now being reported that she is all set to make her OTT debut. As per a report by Pinkvilla, Shanaya Kapoor will be seen in Karan Johar’s ‘Student of the Year 3’. The next installment in the ‘Student of the Year’ franchise is being turned into a web series.
The web show is expected to stream on Disney+ Hotstar. Although Shanaya Kapoor is making her acting debut with Mohanlal’s recently announced ‘Vrushabha’, KJo’s ‘SOTY 3’ will mark her foray into the OTT space.
As per Pinkvilla, the upcoming project is currently in the writing stage and is scheduled to go on floors in the last quarter of this year. The plot and other details regarding the series are currently kept under wraps.
The work on this show is going on in full swing at Dharma’s digital content arm, Dharmatic Entertainment. The director for the web show is expected to be finalised within a month.
The Disney+ Hotstar show is also expected to introduce some more fresh faces alongside Shanaya Kapoor, and the casting process for that is currently underway.
For the unversed, Shanaya Kapoor was previously set to make her acting debut with Karan Johar’s ‘Bedhadak’ alongside Lakshya Lalwani and Gurfateh Pirzada. However, the Shashank Khaitan directorial was eventually shelved due to script issues.
As per Pinkvilla, ‘Student of the Year’ is the second Hindi movie franchise to expand into a web series. Disney+ Hotstar is already working on developing a web show based on Vidyut Jammwal's ‘Commando’.
The first film in ‘SOTY’ franchise marked the debut of Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra. The film was a huge box office success.
The second part, directed by Puneet Malhotra and produced by KJo, launched Ananya Panday and Tara Sutaria in the entertainment industry.
