Katrina Kaif, Vijay Sethupathi’s ‘Merry Christmas’ Postponed. Here’s The New Release Date
Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s upcoming movie ‘Merry Christmas’ was earlier set to arrive on December 8, 2023.
The wait to see two of the biggest Indian stars, Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, on the silver screen together just got longer. Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s first movie together ‘Merry Christmas’ was set to arrive in cinemas in December 2023. However, the makers have postponed the film’s release, and it will now hit theatres on 12 January 2024. The makers of ‘Merry Christmas’ announced the film's new release date along with new posters featuring Katrina and Vijay, which exude a vintage vibe.
In the posters, both Katrina and Vijay can be seen in a slightly serious mood.
“The wait is almost over! #MerryChristmas is making your winter merrier on January 12, 2024,” the caption read.

For the unversed, ‘Merry Christmas’ was first slated to release in theatres on December 15, 2023. The makers later preponed the movie by a week, announcing the new release date as December 8.
Indian film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared an official statement from the makers of ‘Merry Christmas’ on X (formerly Twitter).
“We have made this film with a lot of love and passion, like every filmmaker does. However, with back-to-back movie releases and packed last two months of 2023, we have taken the decision to bring our film to theatres on 12 Jan 2024,” the official statement read.
For those unaware, December 2023 is packed with big movie releases. Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s much-awaited film ‘Animal’, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Rashmika Mandanna and Bobby Deol, is slated to release on December 1, 2023. It will clash with Meghna Gulzar’s ‘Sam Bahadur’, featuring Vicky Kaushal, Fatima Sana Shaikh and Sanya Malhotra.
The biggest box office clash will come in the form of Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki’, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal, Boman Irani, and Prashanth Neel’s ‘Salaar’, starring Prabhas, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Shruti Haasan in December 2023.
‘Yodha’, starring Sidharth Malhotra in the lead, was set to clash with ‘Merry Christmas’. However, a few days back, the makers announced the new release date of the film. ‘Yodha’ will release on March 15, 2024.
'Merry Christmas', which has been shot in two languages, will be released theatrically in Hindi and Tamil. ‘Merry Christmas’ is Sriram Raghavan's first film since the National award-winning ‘Andhadhun’ (2018) starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Tabu and Radhika Apte.
The filmmaker is known for his neo-noir thrillers and ‘Merry Christmas’ is being touted as another suspense film with a twist.
Besides Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi, the Hindi version of ‘Merry Christmas’ will also star Sanjay Kapoor, Vinay Pathak, Pratima Kannan, and Tinnu Anand. Meanwhile, the Tamil version has Radhika Sarathkumar, Shanmugaraja, Kevin Jay Babu, and Rajesh Williams.
Ashwini Kalsekar and Radhika Apte will be seen in an exciting cameo appearances. Reportedly, the crime thriller will revolve around an uneventful day that turns Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi’s worlds upside down. It is about an event that takes place on Christmas Eve.
