‘Koffee With Karan 8’: Kajol Crowns Rekha As “Queen”, Thinks Ranveer Singh Is “Total Dhamaal”
Kajol and Rani Mukerji appeared as guests on the latest episode of Karan Johar's ‘Koffee With Karan 8’.
Karan Johar’s ‘Koffee With Karan’ is one of the most-watched chat shows in India. The eighth season of ‘KWK’, which launched in October 2023, became a huge talking point on social media. The season premiere had Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone as guests. So far, we have seen some interesting pairings on the show, including Sunny and Bobby Deol, Ananya Panday and Sara Ali Khan, Alia Bhatt and Kareena Kapoor, among many more. The recently-released episode took us on a trip down memory lane as it featured ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’ co-stars Kajol and Rani Mukerji.
Kajol and Rani Mukerji, the OGs of Bollywood, brought an infectious energy to the show, making the episode a truly delightful and entertaining watch.
As the tradition goes, host Karan Johar also held a rapid fire round. During the segment, the filmmaker gave some titles and asked Kajol to give them to the ones she thinks deserves them the most.
Firstly, Karan Johar said ‘Queen’ and Kajol was quick to crown veteran actress Rekha with it. Next up was ‘Hero No. 1’ and the name that Kajol immediately took was Govinda. The third one was ‘Total Dhamaal’ and Kajol couldn’t think of anyone but Ranveer Singh.
For their appearance on the show, Kajol wore a stylish maroon-coloured one-shoulder floor-length gown. Rani Mukerji arrived in a lime-coloured dress with ruffled sleeves.
One of the many interesting revelations that unfolded on the show was that back in the 2000s, cousin sisters Kajol and Rani Mukerji didn’t talk much to each other.
Speaking about it, Kajol said, “Nothing really like that. It was just an organic distance. Where work is concerned it’s more that both of us liked where we were.”
When Rani was asked the same question, she responded by saying, “Because I have known her as a kid and she was Kajol didi for me and it was a bit stranger. I guess when you grow apart you really don’t know the reason why because you don’t meet that often because Kajol didi used to stay in town and we were in Juhu. Me and Tanisha were much closer and we are still. But Kajol didi was always closer to the boys of the family. So, it was a bit strange.”
Earlier this year, Rani Mukerji and Kajol were spotted together at Durga Puja pandals in Mumbai. The duo chatted with each other, and they even posed for the paparazzi.
For the unversed, Kajol and Rani Mukerji worked together in Karan Johar's ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’. Rani also had a special appearance in Kajol's film ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham’.
On the work front, Rani Mukerji was last seen in ‘Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway’, while Kajol was seen in Disney+ Hotstar series 'The Trial'.
