Here are some of the best Bollywood films based on female leads. How many from this list have you seen?

Bollywood has been coming up with action movies left, right and centre, and all of these films are headlined by male superstars. We rarely find movies being led by female stars. However, 2024 is here to change the norm. Yami Gautam and Priyamani-starrer 'Article 370' has released in theatres, and the new Hindi movie is garnering positive response from all corners, once again highlighting how female-led movies can work wonders at the ticket counters, provided the content strikes a chord with the audience.

Later this year, we will also see Kareena Kapoor Khan, Tabu and Kriti Sanon sharing the screen in 'The Crew'. We will also see Alia Bhatt playing the lead in Vasan Bala's 'Jigra', so it is fair to say that we have plenty of movies coming which have female stars at the centre.

Keeping this in mind, we have decided to come up with our top five Bollywood movies with female stars as the lead.

So without further, the list is as follows:

1. Queen

The Hindi movie, starring Kangana Ranaut, is directed by Vikas Bahl and produced by Anurag Kashyap, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Madhu Mantena. Apart from Kangana, the film also stars Lisa Haydon and Rajkummar Rao. 2. The Dirty Picture

'The Dirty Picture' stars Vidya Balan, Emraan Hashmi, and Emraan Hashmi in lead roles and the film is inspired by the life of Silk Smitha, an Indian actress known for her erotic roles. However, upon its release, the makers clarified that the story is not officially based on Silk Smitha alone. The film is directed by Milan Luthria and co-produced by Shobha Kapoor and Ekta Kapoor. Vidya Balan won several awards for her performance in this film.

3. Kahaani

This suspense thriller film is co-written, co-produced, and directed by Sujoy Ghosh. The film stars Vidya Balan as Vidya Bagchi, a pregnant woman who is looking for her missing husband in Kolkata during the festival of Durga Puja. Days into her investigation, she finds out about a human trafficking racket.

5. Gangubai Kathiawadi

The film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali stars Alia Bhatt in the title role, alongside Shantanu Maheshwari, Vijay Raaz, Indira Tiwari, Seema Pahwa, Jim Sarbh, and Ajay Devgn.
