Akshay Kumar and Kiara Advani have reacted to the horrific video coming out of Manipur.

Actors Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani, Richa Chadha and Renuka Shahane are among some of the celebrities who have reacted to the bone-chilling video of two women being paraded naked by a mob of men in Manipur. For the unversed, the video showed two women from the Kuki-Zomi community being paraded around naked and then being sexually assaulted. The incident took place in Manipur two months ago, however, the video emerged online on Wednesday.

In the video, both women were seen being made to walk naked down a road and towards a field by a mob of men. Some of the men then can be seen dragging the two women towards a field and groping them.

“Shaken, disgusted to see the video of violence against women in Manipur. I hope the culprits get such a harsh punishment that no one ever thinks of doing a horrifying thing like this again,” Akshay Kumar tweeted.

Taking to Twitter, Richa Chadha said: "Shameful! Horrific! Lawless."

"The video of violence against women in Manipur is horrifying and has shaken me to the core. I pray the women get justice at the earliest. Those responsible must face the most SEVERE punishment they deserve," tweeted Kiara Advani.

"Is there no one to stop the atrocities in Manipur? If you are not shaken to the core by that disturbing video of two women, is it even right to call oneself human, let alone Bharatiya or Indian," tweeted Renuka Shahane.

"When horrific incidents occur make no mistake, through the system, our leaders are IMMEDIATELY aware. When months later videos go viral, twitter is aware. If leaders only then respond, it’s to twitter, not horrific incidents. They care about online outrage, not real people," wrote actor and comedian Vir Das.

Sanjay Dutt tweeted: "The video portraying violence against women in Manipur was shocking and sickening. My utmost hope is for the culprits to be punished with the utmost severity, sending a clear message that such despicable actions will not be tolerated in any circumstance."

Earlier, a police official had confirmed to The Indian Express that the incident had taken place on May 4 in Thoubal district and a zero FIR was registered in the matter on May 18.

Even when the FIR was registered two months ago, no arrests were made.
