Masaba Gupta has slammed former PCB chief Ramiz Raja for laughing at a racist joke directed at her parents, Vivian Richards and Neena Gupta.
Celebrity designer and actress Masaba Gupta has slammed former Pakistan cricketer Ramiz Raja for laughing at a racist joke directed towards her father Vivian Richards and mother Neena Gupta. In her post, Masaba Gupta slammed the former chief of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chief, saying that Ramiz Raja does not have any "grace" while Vivian Richards, Neena Gupta and herself have it in "spades".
"Dear Ramiz Raja ( sir ) grace is a quality few have. My father, mother, and I have it in spades. You have none. Sickening to see you laugh on national TV in Pakistan at something the world stopped laughing at about 30 years back. Step into the future. All 3 of us are here with our chin up. #ramizraja," Masaba Gupta wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

For the unversed, a clip went viral on social media in which Ramiz Raja was seen laughing at a racist joke targetting Vivian Richards. In the clip, a comedian can be seen making fun of Vivian's skin colour.
When the host of the show asked the comic if she followed cricket or not, she said, "I do watch cricket matches and my heart broke when Vivian Richards went into a relationship with Neena Gupta. I wrote a couplet then. ‘Jo ladkiyan khud ko kehti hain malika-e-aliya, Unko fir milta hai Mr Kaliya.'”
Ramiz Raja was then spotted laughing at this tasteless comment.
For the unversed, this is not the first time that a Pakistani cricketer has come under fire for making distasteful remarks or supporting them.
Earlier, former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq faced backlash for passing misogynistic remarks against actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. However, he later apologised for his remark.
Earlier, while criticising the PCB management, Abdul Razzaq used Aishwarya Rai Bachchan as an example, implying that marrying her would never guarantee a well-mannered child. The comment which was said in Urdu, elicited laughter from some members from the audience, including former Pakistan cricketers Umar Gul and Shahid Afridi.
