This year at Met Gala, stars are celebrating the theme ‘Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty’ with looks inspired by the late iconic designer’s work. Alia Bhatt, one of the most anticipated debutants of the event, arrived at the Met Gala 2023 as designer Prabal Gurung’s muse.
They gave a subtle nod to Karl Lagerfeld with a gown that took inspiration from his unforgettable Chanel bride collection. Alia Bhatt took to her Instagram account to share dreamy pictures from the event.

In her lengthy caption, she spoke about how she has always been “fascinated by the iconic Chanel brides. Season after season, the genius of Karl Lagerfeld shone through in the most innovative and awe-inspiring couture.”
She further talked about her inspiration for her Met Gala debut and added, “My look tonight was inspired from this and in particular by supermodel Claudia Schiffer’s 1992 Chanel bridal look.”
Alia Bhatt also paid tribute to India with her dreamy pearl dress. “I wanted to do something that felt authentic (hello, pearls!) and proudly made in India. The embroidery, made with a 100,000 pearls is a labour of love by @prabalgurung. I’m so proud to wear you for my first Met,” she wrote in her caption.
In the photos, Alia Bhatt struck some stunning poses as she debuted in a bridal white gown created by Prabal Gurung. The long train, corseted finish and the white shade of Alia's outfit took inspiration from Karl Lagerfeld's unforgettable and bridal collection at the luxury house of Chanel.
Alia's white gown also featured a wide plunging U neckline, a corseted bodice hugging her bust, cinched waistline defining her svelte frame, a layered tulle skirt, and a floor-sweeping train at the back. The ensemble was adorned with hand-embroidered white pearls all over.
Alia Bhatt teamed the gown with embellished fingerless gloves in Karl’s honour, matching diamond earrings and rings. Alia chose to style her Met Gala look with a centre-parted half-tied ponytail, high heels, subtle smoky eye shadow, kohl-lined eyes, mascara-laden lashes, rouged cheekbones, feathered brows, nude lip shade, and a dewy base.
Fans were mighty impressed with Alia Bhatt’s look and took to the comments section of the post to praise the actress.
