Veteran actor Nana Patekar, who can be currently seen in Vivek Agnihotri’s latest directorial ‘The Vaccine War’, has been extensively promoting the film. During a recent interaction with News18 India, Nana Patekar broke his silence on his rumoured rivalry with Shah Rukh Khan. The two have previously starred together in the 1992 film ‘Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman’ and the 2002 movie ‘Shakti: The Power’. In his interview with News18 India, Nana Patekar said that Shah Rukh Khan and him are fond of each other as they go a long way back.

Nana Patekar, while promoting his latest release ‘The Vaccine War’, also praised Shah Rukh Khan calling him “bahut acha kalakaar”. This particular bit from the interview has gone viral on social media.

While promoting ‘The Vaccine War’, directed by Vivek Agnihotri and also starring Pallavi Joshi, who were seated next to Nana Patekar, the veteran actor was asked to comment on Shah Rukh Khan.

While SRK has enjoyed success over the years, Nana Patekar said that he had predicted this during the shoot of ‘Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman’.

He said, “Bahut acha kalakaar hai. Iski pehli film mere sath thi, Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman. Release toh uski dusri ho gayi, lekin pehli wali mere sath thi. Bahut behatareen kalakaar. Maine usko kaha tha uss waqt, puch lo Shah Rukh se, ‘Tu ek din bahut bada star banega,’ pehli hi film mein maine tha usko kaha tha.”

On being asked if he recently caught up with Shah Rukh Khan, Nana Patekar said, “Jab bhi milta hai, aaj bhi waise he, ussi terah se milta hai. Mujhe koi dikkat nahi usse. Aur woh mera apna hai, mera chhota hai, toh mujhe usse dikkat kyun hogi?”

Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman’, a romantic comedy-drama directed by Aziz Mirza, was the first Bollywood film Shah Rukh signed. However, Raj Kanwar's romantic film ‘Deewana’ (1992) turned out to be his Bollywood debut movie as it released a few months earlier than ‘Raju Ban Gaya Gentleman’.

Shah Rukh Khan will be seen next in Rajkumar Hirani’s ‘Dunki’, which also stars Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal. The film is slated to release in December 2023.

Meanwhile, ‘The Vaccine War’ has been helmed by Vivek Agnihotri and bankrolled by Pallavi Joshi. The movie’s plot revolves around the country coming up with Covaxin, the first COVID-19 vaccine in India.
