Nayanthara "Very Upset" With 'Jawan' Director Atlee, Might Not Do Any Other Bollywood Film Soon: Report
As per a report, Nayanthara is not very happy with director Atlee and she might not do any Bollywood projects anytime soon.
Atlee's 'Jawan' is Nayanthara's first Hindi project. The Indian actress, who is fondly referred to as 'Lady Superstar' in the South, received widespread praise for her portrayal of Narmada Rai in the film, also starring Shah Rukh Khan. The movie, which also stars Vijay Sethupathi in a prominent role, has already made more than Rs 500 crore across all languages in India. However, it seems all is not well between Nayanthara and Atlee. As per a report in Hindustan Times, Nayanthara is not very happy with Atlee and she might not do any Bollywood projects anytime soon.
"She has been very upset with Atlee because her role was chopped in the film. Also, Deepika’s (Padukone) character was elevated and Nayanthara’s part was significantly sidelined," Hindustan Times quoted a source as saying.
Deepika Padukone has a special appearance in 'Jawan', and she played the role of Aishwarya in the film. The actress had a 15-minute role in the movie, and fans loved what the actress brought to the role. Even her chemistry with SRK was appreciated by all.
“It was not a cameo at all. Jawan was almost made to look like an SRK-Deepika film. Nayanthara is the leading actor down south, and hence, she was not happy with the treatment of Jawan. And that can never well be the reason why we might not see her in a Bollywood project, at least not anytime soon," the source said.
"Surely she (Nayanthara) is being appreciated, but there are no open discussions about any other Bollywood project as yet. As far as possibility of her taking over Bollywood space is concerned, we are not sure about that too. The reason is that she is almost 40 and has crossed the age bracket that Bollywood has created. So, here in Bollywood, she can play character roles that justifies her age. In Jawan, she worked well because she was cast opposite Shah Rukh, who is a good match for her," the source added.
Recently, a 'Jawan' success meet was held in Mumbai and it was attended by the likes of SRK, Deepika Padukone, Atlee, Vijay Sethupathi, Anirudh Ravichander, Sanya Malhotra, Ridhi Dogra and others. However, Nayanthara did not attend the event because of family commitments.
“Nayanthara never goes to the films events. She follows a no promotion policy for her films because of her bad experiences in the past when she was misquoted and because she feels that her job is to act and not get involved in the promotional activities," said the source.
The total nett collection of ‘Jawan’ in India now stands at Rs 518 crore, and the movie just needs Rs 25 crore more to surpass the tally of 'Pathaan' in India.
