On the occasion of Independence Day 2023, the 'Hera Pheri' actor on Tuesday shared the proof of the same on Twitter as he posted the picture of his official government documents. The fans of the actor also congratulated him and wished him a Happy Independence Day.
For the unversed, four years earlier in 2019, Akshay Kumar had promised that he would be applying for an Indian passport. And then in 2022, he had shared an update regarding the same.
“Having a Canadian passport does not mean I am any less of an Indian. I am very much Indian. I have been here since last nine years when I got the passport. And I don't want to get into the reason of why, what happened, my films were not working, blah blah blah, chalo woh theek hai,” Hindustan Times had quoted Akshay Kumar as saying.
“Yes, I had said it in 2019, I applied for it. Then uske baad pandemic aagaya. Uske 2-2.5 saal sab kuch band hogaya. Renounce ka abhi mera letter aagaya hai and very soon my whole passport will be coming. Main kya karu, maine thodi pandemic laya hai," he added.
On the work front, Akshay Kumar's latest release 'OMG 2' released in the theatres on August 11. The movie which also stars Yami Gautam and Pankaj Tripathi, has received a glowing word-of-mouth, and it has earned more than Rs 50 crore inside four days despite stiff competition from 'Gadar 2'.
He also has yet-to-be-titled Hindi remake of 'Soorarai Pottru' in the pipeline and the movie is set to release in the theatres later this year.
His 'Bade Miyan Chote Miyan' alongside Tiger Shroff will be releasing in 2024 on the occasion of Eid.
