On Sonam Kapoor’s “Really Hard To Raise Money For Women-Centric Film” Comment, Ektaa Kapoor Names-Drop “Star” Deepika Padukone

Ektaa Kapoor has been busy off late promoting her next production venture 'Thank You For Coming' starring Bhumi Pednekar, Shehnaaz Gill, Dolly Singh, and Kusha Kapila. The new Hindi movie recently had its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), and it was attended by the entire star cast, the director, and producers. Quite often in the past, many lead actresses have spoken about how difficult it is to raise funding for women-centric films. In the latest entertainment news, Ektaa Kapoor sat down for an interview with Film Companion, and it was there that she was asked to comment on Sonam Kapoor's statement where she had said that it is hard to raise funding for women-centric films.
"And I remember some years ago Sonam (Kapoor) had talked about how it is really hard to raise money for a women-centric film, is it changing," said the host.
Replying to the question, Ektaa Kapoor said, "I think it is not so much to do with the gender. If Deepika Padukone says yes to a film, I don't think anyone in the industry, even the most patriarchal of uncles, will say “No”. They will pay her because she is a star to reckon with."
The video of this particular reply is now going viral on social media, and it is being shared at a rapid pace by fans of Deepika Padukone, who was last seen in a cameo appearance in 'Jawan' starring Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi.

On the work front, Deepika Padukone will next be seen in Siddharth Anand's 'Fighter' which also stars Hrithik Roshan and Anil Kapoor. The movie is slated to release in the theatres on January 25, 2024.
The motion-poster of the upcoming Hindi film was released earlier this week.
Talking about Sonam Kapoor, she was last seen in 'Blind', which released on JioCinema. The movie was panned by the critics.
