"They Don’t Bother…”: 'Ramayan' Actress Dipika Chikhlia Reacts To Om Raut And Kriti Sanon's Peck On The Cheek Outside Tirumala Temple
Dipika Chikhlia, who played the role of Sita in Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayan', has reacted to the Om Raut and Kriti Sanon controversy.
Dipika Chikhlia, who played the role of Sita in Ramanand Sagar's 'Ramayan' has reacted to the viral video which showed 'Adipurush' director Om Raut kissing actress Kriti Sanon on the cheeks outside the Tirumala Temple. The video is going insanely viral, and both Om Raut and Kriti Sanon are being criticised for it. BJP state secretary Ramesh Naidu Nagothu had also slammed the duo, however, he deleted his tweet later.
While speaking to Aaj Tak, Dipika Chikhlia said: "Kriti is an actor of today’s generation and in today’s time, kissing and hugging is seen as a sweet gesture. She never thought of herself as Sita.”
Dipika also said that when she was playing the character of Sita, she “lived as Sita but the actors of today, think of it as a character. They don’t bother after the film is over.”
“When we were in character on the set, people would come and touch our feet. That was a different time. People did not think of us as actors, they thought of us as gods. We couldn’t even hug anyone, kissing is beyond the question. After the release of Adipurush, the actors will get busy with their next project and will forget about their characters but this never happened with us," she added.
She also said that they were “treated like we are gods who have come to live in this world. That is the reason why we never did anything that would hurt the sentiments of the people.”
Before the final trailer launch, Prabhas, Kriti Sanon and the entire team of 'Adipurush' had visited the Tirumala Temple in Tirupathi to seek blessings.
In the movie, Prabhas is playing Lord Ram, Kriti Sanon is essaying the role of Sita while Saif Ali Khan is portraying Raavan (Lankesh).
Earlier, the makers of 'Adipurush' had officially confirmed that the new Hindi movie would be having its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 13. The movie will be releasing in the theatres on June 16.
The magnum opus, slated to hit the theatres in IMAX and 3D, will release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.
