Ranbir Kapoor had a very interesting take on his upcoming movie 'Animal', calling it an "adult-rated Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham".

Ranbir Kapoor is gearing up for his latest release 'Animal', which will hit theatres on December 1, 2023. The new Hindi film which also stars Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, and Triptii Dimri, has been directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, who is known for helming projects like 'Arjun Reddy' and 'Kabir Singh'. The trailer of 'Animal' was unveiled on Thursday afternoon at an event in Delhi. At the event, Ranbir Kapoor was asked to describe the film, and it was then that the actor called the Sandeep Reddy Vanga-directorial as "adult-rated Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham".

"Animal is basically the adult-rated Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham. If I had to describe this story in a line, then it's about a man who goes to any length to protect his family. That's what the core of the film is," he said at the event.

For the unversed, 'Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham' is a family drama, directed by Karan Johar, which had released in theatres in 2001. The film stars Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, and Jaya Bachchan in leading roles.

Coming back to 'Animal', Ranbir Kapoor also said that it is the most complex character he has ever played in his career.

"That you hit someone and blood comes out, you'll get bored after 10 seconds. Violence is about the mind, what it thinks, what the human mind is capable of? What is right or wrong, where society is concerned? Is Bobby sir the antagonist or I am the antagonist? Who is right, who is wrong? These are questions as a society, audience, we will start asking after this film," Ranbir Kapoor said, as per news agency PTI.

Speaking of 'Animal', the film's trailer showcases a violent world set against the backdrop of a toxic relationship between Ranbir's Arjun Singh and his father Balbir, played by Anil Kapoor.

As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Animal' is expected to take an opening of Rs 50 crore, which would easily be the biggest opening in Ranbir Kapoor's career. The advance booking has already begun in the US. In India, full-fledged advance booking is slated to open on Sunday, November 26.
