Watch: Rashmika Mandanna's Hypnotic Dance Steals The Show In Haunting 'Tum Mere Na Huye' Song
The first song from Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana's 'Thamma' is out.
The wait is finally over! The makers of the highly anticipated supernatural romantic thriller ‘Thamma’, have dropped the first song ‘Tum Mere Na Huye’. And it's an absolute visual spectacle that sets a dark, intriguing, and breathtakingly beautiful tone for the film. Starring the fresh and exciting pairing of Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna, this track is far from your typical Bollywood romance number. It's a haunting tale of a love that seems to defy the very laws of nature.
Check out the music video of ‘Tum Mere Na Huye’ here:
The video opened with ominous text – "BORN IN DARKNESS" followed by "SOME LOVE STORIES BLEED FOREVER" – immediately plunging us into a gothic, mystical world. We are then introduced to Rashmika Mandanna in a never-before-seen avatar. Dressed in a stunning, deep red ensemble, she makes a powerful entrance into what looks like a grand, ancient hall filled with devotees or followers. From her very first step, she commands the screen with an aura of power and mystique, hinting that she is no ordinary damsel.
As the haunting melody, sung beautifully by Madhubanti Bagchi and Sachin-Jigar, begins, we see Ayushmann Khurrana's character. He appears almost like a spectre, his presence both intense and tormented. The chemistry between the two leads is electric and palpable, but it's drenched in tragedy.
In one of the video's most stunning moments, Rashmika reaches out to touch Ayushmann, only for him to disintegrate into a shower of sparkling dust, suggesting he is a vampire, a spirit, or some form of otherworldly being. This single shot perfectly encapsulates the song's core emotion, beautifully captured by Amitabh Bhattacharya's lyrics: “Tum mere na huye, na sahi”.
The choreography is another highlight. Rashmika leads a massive troupe of dancers in what feels less like a performance and more like a powerful, hypnotic ritual. The visuals are striking, especially a jaw-dropping sequence where she dances in the centre of a floor from which countless hands are reaching up towards her. It's creepy, artistic, and completely mesmerizing. The grand scale, the dramatic lighting, and the mystical set design create a world that feels both dangerous and alluring.
The song is more than just a music video; it’s a brilliant sneak peek into the world of 'Thamma'. Quick cuts towards the end show us glimpses of high-octane action, futuristic cityscapes, and tender moments between the couple in a seemingly normal world, raising a million questions.
'Tum Mere Na Huye' is a fantastic start to the film's musical journey. It establishes 'Thamma' as a unique, genre-bending film that promises romance, action, and a deep dive into the supernatural. With a stellar cast that also includes Paresh Rawal and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and this visually stunning song setting the stage, the film's release this Diwali just shot to the top of our most-awaited list!
