Raveena Tandon talks about how cutthroat the Hindi film industry can be.

Raveena Tandon, who recently made headlines after her web series ‘Karmma Calling’ premiered on Disney+ Hotstar, has been a part of the entertainment industry for over three decades now. She made her Bollywood debut opposite Salman Khan in ‘Patthar Ke Phool’. Known for her versatility, she has appeared in many memorable movies like ‘Mohra’, ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, ‘Dilwale’, ‘Laadla’, ‘Dulhe Raja’, and more. Raveena Tandon also set many hearts racing with her dance numbers like ‘Tip Tip Barsa Paani’, ‘Shehar Ki Ladki’, and ‘Tu Cheez Badi Hai Mast Mast’.

After being a part of Bollywood for so long, Raveena Tandon recently spoke about how cutthroat the film industry can be. In an interaction with Rajshri Unplugged, Raveena Tandon admitted that Bollywood is full of “insecure” and cutthroat people, but said that its reputation has been damaged only because it is written about more than any other industry.

Raveena Tandon said, “Some people are insecure, and they can’t bear to see others succeed. They look for ways to pull others down. This could be via their relationships, via the groups they belong to, they could come at you via your boyfriends and girlfriends. Our industry is undoubtedly competitive. But which industry isn’t? It’s the same in the world of politics and corporates.”

She added, “The only difference is that the film industry is written about because people want to consume gossip about famous people. Definitely, people indulge in politics here. It’s happened to me as well.”

Raveena Tandon went on to proudly say that she has never knowingly harmed anybody else’s career.

The Bollywood actress stated, “If something like this has ever happened because of me, it was unintentional, and I’m willing to apologise for it. My father used to say that when a baby learns to walk, it falls over and over again before it can stand up and eventually become someone who can walk with their head held high. This was the lesson that I was taught. I haven’t hurt anybody, I haven’t had anybody thrown out of a film. And I don’t have problems working with newcomers, because I too was a newcomer once.”

Raveena Tandon will be next seen in Disney+ Hotstar’s upcoming film, ‘Patna Shuklla’. The new Hindi movie dives into the education scam of roll numbers that affects the lives of thousands of earnest students in India.

Along with Raveena Tandon, the star cast also includes Anushka Kaushik, Manav Vij, Chandan Roy Sanyal, Jatin Goswami, and the late Satish Kaushik, among others.

Produced by Arbaaz Khan Productions Pvt Ltd and directed by Vivek Budakoti, the courtroom drama begins streaming on Disney+ Hotstar starting March 29, 2024.
