Rohit Shetty Confirms ‘Simmba 2’, ‘Sooryavanshi 2’ And More Films In His Expanding Cop Universe
Rohit Shetty confirmed sequels for ‘Simmba’ and ‘Sooryavanshi’, with more films and characters joining his growing cop universe.
Rohit Shetty’s cop universe is gearing up for an action-packed expansion, and fans are in for a thrilling ride. After delivering hits like ‘Singham’, ‘Simmba’, and ‘Sooryavanshi’, the filmmaker has officially confirmed what many were hoping for – sequels are on the way. Speaking about the future of the universe, Rohit Shetty revealed that Ranveer Singh’s ‘Simmba’ will return for a second installment, and Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sooryavanshi’ will also move forward with a follow-up. And that’s just the beginning of what’s coming.
In a recent conversation with Komal Nahta on his podcast Gamechangers, Rohit Shetty shared, “Simmba ka bhi part 2 hoga, Sooryavanshi bhi aage badhegi. Aur bhi log aaenge. Aur bhi filmein banengi cop universe mein. So, that's why we created that universe.”
What’s interesting is that Rohit Shetty never intended to create a shared cinematic universe when he first directed ‘Singham’ in 2011. In the interview, he admitted that the success of ‘Singham’ caught even him by surprise. It was only while writing ‘Simmba’ that the idea of connecting all his cop films clicked – and that creative spark led to the introduction of Akshay Kumar’s ‘Sooryavanshi’, officially launching Bollywood’s very own interconnected cop universe.
He also spoke about ‘Singham Again’, which released in 2024. In the interview, he spilled the beans on how ‘Singham Again’ brought together a host of characters, both old and new. According to Rohit, the idea of having an ensemble cast which included Ajay Devgn, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Akshay Kumar, Tiger Shroff and Deepika Padukone, originated in 2019 while he was working on ‘Sooryavanshi’.
Rohit Shetty also clarified that his team had formulated the character arcs of new entrants Deepika and Tiger and how they would have extended parts in future films.
With ‘Simmba 2’ and ‘Sooryavanshi 2’ in the works, Rohit Shetty’s cop universe is not just alive – it’s roaring ahead with full force. Fans can definitely buckle up for more action, larger-than-life heroes, and epic crossovers.
