Salman Khan And Karan Johar’s ‘The Bull’ Not Shelved, Set To Go On Floors In 2025: Report
Karan Johar and Salman Khan’s upcoming collaboration, ‘The Bull’, is expected to go on floors in 2025, amid rumours of it being shelved.
The last time when Karan Johar and Salman Khan collaborated, viewers got a gem in the form of ‘Kuch Kuch Hota Hai’. Karan Johar’s directorial debut ‘KKHH’ starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani in the lead roles with Salman Khan in the supporting role. The 1998 Hindi movie remains a fan favourite even today, owing to its dialogues, characters, and songs. While the movie featured Salman Khan in a brief appearance, his role as Aman left an everlasting impression. 26 years on, Karan Johar and Salman Khan have been in talks for various projects for potential collaborations.
Last year, Pinkvilla reported that Salman Khan and Karan Johar are finally reuniting for a new movie. Karan Johar, in a lengthy Instagram post, confirmed the same while wishing Salman Khan on his birthday as he concluded the post by writing, “Also 25 years later we will finally have a story to tell again… not saying any more than that.”
However, Bollywood Hungama recently reported that Salman Khan and Karan Johar’s collaboration hit a major roadblock as the Bollywood superstar opted out of ‘The Bull’, being produced by Karan's Dharma Productions. But it looks like the upcoming movie has not been shelved.
As per a recent report by India Today, ‘The Bull’ is all set to go on floors in 2025 and the writing is currently underway. Earlier, the movie was supposed to go on floors this year and it was eyeing Eid 2025 release.
As per the India Today report, due to the current relationship between India and Maldives, the film is being developed with a sensitive approach and is being written with a fresh perspective now.
According to a previous Bollywood Hungama report, the movie was pushed thrice due to production delays. “After a lot of back and forth on the dates, Karan and Vishnu were still not able to commit to the exact timelines of the shoot. That’s when Salman conveyed his decision to back out from the project. Salman politely informed his decision to Karan,” the report quoted an unnamed source.
“He might give another try to make Bull a reality, but at the moment, the army film is shelved from Salman’s end. If Karan can commit to a certain timeline on paper, he might come back and try his luck to relaunch the project,” the source added.
For the unversed, ‘The Bull’ is an army film supposed to be directed by Vishnu Vardhan of ‘Shershaah’ fame. Reportedly, Salman Khan will play Brigadier Farukh Bulsara, who led Operation Cactus in 1988 in the Maldives.
Salman Khan was last seen in the 2023 Hindi movie ‘Tiger 3’ alongside Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi. On the other hand, Karan Johar recently produced ‘Yodha’, which stars Sidharth Malhotra, Disha Patani and Raashii Khanna.
