Salman Khan Confirms Film With Atlee Being Pushed Due To “Budget Issues”
Salman Khan has finally spilled the beans about his rumoured collaboration with ‘Jawan’ director Atlee.
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is gearing up for the release of his next film, 'Sikandar', directed by AR Murugadoss. The upcoming Hindi movie is slated to hit the theatres on March 30. Ahead of the film's arrival in theatres, Salman Khan finally spilled the beans on his rumoured collaboration with 'Jawan' director Atlee. The Bollywood superstar confirmed the project while revealing that it has been put on hold due to budget issues. For the unversed, Salman Khan was rumoured to be starring in a two-hero film directed by Atlee.
However, reports emerged stating the movie has been postponed. This has now been confirmed by Salman Khan himself.
"He has written a very big budget action film. The film with Atlee is delayed; the budget is an issue for the film. I don't know who from the two (Rajinikanth sir or Kamal Haasan sir) will be in it," Hindustan Times quoted Salman Khan as saying.
The Bollywood superstar also revealed the status of another film he is working on. Salman stated that he will soon be starring in a movie alongside Sanjay Dutt.
"I'm doing another big action film after Sikandar. There the action is on another level. That's rustic action," he said.
"I'm doing it with my elder brother in the industry...Sanjay Dutt," he added. Salman, however, added that the director and producer for the film has been not finalised yet.
Salman Khan also provided an update regarding whether he is doing a film with Sooraj Barjatya. Currently, the filmmaker is working on a film with Ayushmann Khurrana.
"That is happening after he wraps up what he is doing now," said Salman.
Speaking of 'Sikandar', the upcoming action entertainer has been bankrolled by Sajid Nadiadwala. It stars Rashmika Mandanna in the lead role opposite Salman Khan.
The recently released trailer of the film shows Salman Khan in a larger-than-life avatar. 'Sikandar' revolves around Salman trying to eradicate a crime racket in Mumbai. Rashmika plays Salman's love interest.
'Sikandar' also stars Kajal Aggarwal, Anjini Dhawan, Sharman Joshi and Sathyaraj.
As per industry tracker Sacnilk, 'Sikandar' has so far sold 98,646 tickets across India for the opening day, grossing Rs 2.85 crore. However, if one adds block seats as well, then 'Sikandar' grosses Rs 7.78 crore for the opening day.
