For the unversed, ‘Andaz Apna Apna’, starring Salman, Aamir Khan, Raveena Tandon, Karisma Kapoor, Paresh Rawal and Shakti Kapoor, was recently re-released in theatres. As per Hindustan Times, the film earned Rs 25.75 lakh on the opening day of its release.
On the next two days, the film earned Rs 45.50 lakh and Rs 51.25 lakh. For the unversed, the film has been directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Vinay Kumar Sinha.
Speaking of 'Andaz Apna Apna', the film features Aamir and Salman as Amar and Prem. The two are shown to be gold diggers who leave no stone unturned in trying to woo an heiress called Raveena to access her father's wealth.
The film initially tanked at the box office during its original release in 1994, but gained cult status over the years. The film is known for uber-popular dialogues such as “Teja main hoon, mark idhar hai”, “Crime Master Gogo, Mogambo ka Bhatija”, and “Do dost ek cup mein chai piyenge”.
Returning to Salman Khan, the actor was last seen in AR Murugadoss' 'Sikandar'. The film which also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Sathyaraj and Prateik Babbar, tanked miserably at the box office, earning just a little above Rs 100 crore in India.
Despite being Salman's comeback to the big screen after a hiatus since 2023, ‘Sikandar’ failed to make a significant mark. Released on March 30, the film collected Rs 26 crore on its opening day, which fell short compared to Chhaava’s Rs 31 crore opening. By the end of its first week, it garnered Rs 90.25 crore.
However, the film did manage to enter the Rs 100 crore club on its eighth day of release, earning Rs 4.50 crore that day and bringing the total to Rs 102.25 crore net, according to Sacnilk.
