Salman Khan Meets Fans To Discuss Career Choices After Sikandar's Lukewarm Response: Report
Salman Khan reportedly met with fans to discuss his future projects and gather feedback following the lukewarm response to ‘Sikandar’.
Bollywood superstar Salman Khan’s latest Eid release ‘Sikandar’ has failed to generate the expected buzz at the box office, leaving fans and industry insiders somewhat surprised. Despite being his first Eid release in two years, the film’s performance has been underwhelming, prompting Salman to take a step back and reassess his upcoming projects. According to Hindustan Times, Salman met with a few of his fans on April 5 to discuss his career, the response to ‘Sikandar’, and his approach to future projects in light of the mixed reception of his recent release.
According to a source quoted by HT, the meeting was casual and agenda-free, aimed at creating an open dialogue where Salman could directly hear his fans’ thoughts.
“Salman wants to stay connected with his fans and hear their thoughts directly. He's creating a platform for open dialogue, where he can understand their reactions to his projects and what they expect from him. The recent meeting was a casual, agenda-free gathering to make this happen,” the source shared.
During this interaction, fans shared their candid opinions on ‘Sikandar’, discussing why it didn’t meet their expectations. Salman was visibly moved by the support and honest feedback, expressing that he wants to work on projects that genuinely make his fans happy.
Although Salman has no intention of backing out of his committed projects, he is planning to take a short pause to evaluate his future choices. As per the insider, Salman will continue working on the projects he has already signed but will carefully assess his next steps before making new commitments.
“Salman will work on the projects that he has signed. When it comes to future projects, he will figure out in a couple of weeks after evaluating everything. One certainty is that Salman Khan will continue to work on films that resonate with him, and he's passionate about sharing these stories with his audience,” the source added.
Among the projects being discussed, there is speculation about Salman reuniting with Sanjay Dutt for ‘Ganga Ram’. There’s also talk of a sequel to the blockbuster ‘Kick’ and a potential collaboration with director Atlee, who is known for his larger-than-life cinematic storytelling.
Coming back to Salman’s ‘Sikandar’, it has been directed by AR Murugadoss. ‘Sikandar’ also features Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, and Sharman Joshi in pivotal roles.
Despite being Salman's comeback to the big screen after a hiatus since 2023, ‘Sikandar’ failed to make a significant mark. Released on March 30, the film collected Rs 26 crore on its opening day, which fell short compared to Chhaava’s Rs 31 crore opening. By the end of its first week, it garnered Rs 90.25 crore.
However, the film did manage to enter the Rs 100 crore club on its eighth day of release, earning Rs 4.50 crore that day and bringing the total to Rs 102.25 crore net, according to Sacnilk.
