After Kangana Ranaut, Sara Ali Khan Wants To Join Politics? Here’s What She Said
Sara Ali Khan, who recently featured in ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’, spoke about her plans of joining politics.
Sara Ali Khan, known for her humble nature and carefree persona, made her Bollywood debut with the 2018 movie ‘Kedarnath’, co-starring late actor Sushant Singh Rajput. Her performance in the 2018 Hindi movie was widely praised, and she ended up winning the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. Following her debut, Sara Ali Khan starred in the commercial hit ‘Simmba’, alongside Ranveer Singh. In subsequent years, the Bollywood actress has starred in films like ‘Love Aaj Kal’, ‘Coolie No. 1’, ‘Atrangi Re’, and ‘Gaslight’.
Sara Ali Khan, who tasted success in 2023 with ‘Zara Hatke Zara Bachke’, has had a busy 2024 so far with two OTT film releases – ‘Murder Mubarak’ and ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’.
Recently, Sara Ali Khan candidly spoke about her work life. She also revealed if she would ever consider politics as a career.
During an interview with Anubhav Singh Bassi for Netflix India, Sara Ali Khan was asked if she wants to enter politics in the near future.
When he asked, “Down the line, Sara Ali Khan wants to join politics?” Sara Ali Khan answered, “Yeah, she does.”
This comes after it was announced last weekend that Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut would be the BJP candidate from Mandi in Himachal Pradesh. Expressing her gratitude, Kangana Ranaut had thanked the BJP leadership, expressing her honour and joy at officially joining the party.
For the unversed, Sara Ali Khan studied at Columbia University and has a degree in history and political science.
During an old interview with Hindustan Times, Sara Ali Khan revealed that although acting will always be her first priority, she hopes to pursue politics in the future.
“I have a degree in history and political science so I want to pursue politics maybe later in life, but it’s not a backup plan. I am not leaving and if people will give me the opportunity to be here (Bollywood), I will be here for as long I can,” she said.
Despite her political inclinations, Sara Ali Khan Khan continues to focus on her acting career. She was recently seen in ‘Murder Mubarak’ and ‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’.
‘Murder Mubarak’, directed by Homi Adajania, also features Pankaj Tripathi, Vijay Varma, Dimple Kapadia, Karisma Kapoor, Sanjay Kapoor, Tisca Chopra, Brijendra Kala and Suhail Nayyar. The movie released on Netflix recently.
‘Ae Watan Mere Watan’, which premiered on Amazon Prime Video, is directed by Kannan Iyer and stars Sachin Khedekar, Abhay Verma, Sparsh Shrivastav, Alexx O' Neil and Anand Tiwari.
Sara Ali Khan will next be seen in Anurag Basu's ‘Metro In Dino’, co-starring Aditya Roy Kapur. It has a stellar cast including Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal, and Fatima Sana Shaikh.
