Happy Birthday Badshah of Bollywood! Revisiting Some Of SRK’s Most Iconic Dialogues
As Shah Rukh Khan celebrates his 58th birthday today, let’s take a look at some of King Khan’s most iconic dialogues.
Shah Rukh Khan, often fondly referred to as ‘King Khan’ and the ‘Badshah of Bollywood’ by his fans, turned a year older today. From fans gathering outside his Mumbai home, Mannat, to SRK trending heavily on social media and the surprise drop of the extended version of ‘Jawan’ on Netflix, today is all about Shah Rukh Khan. Another big thing to celebrate his special day? The ‘Dunki’ teaser release, which immediately caught the eye of numerous fans. SRK rose to fame in the early 1990s after starring in movies like ‘Baazigar’, ‘Darr’, ‘Karan Arjun’ and ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’.
SRK, who is also famous for his charming off-screen persona, witty comebacks and savage responses, began his acting journey with hit TV shows like ‘Fauji’ and ‘Circus’.
From heartfelt romance to high-octane action to emotional drama, there’s no genre that Shah Rukh Khan hasn’t covered in his decades-long career.
And one thing, among many others, that he has always made a mark with is the way he delivers his dialogues. On the occasion of his 58th birthday, we decided to revisit some of Shah Rukh Khan’s best dialogues.
While everyone has their own favourites when it comes to SRK’s top dialogues, these are some of my favourites.
Without further ado, a look at some of King Khan’s most iconic dialogues:
1. Baazigar: “Kabhi kabhi jeetne ke liye kuch haarna padta hai. Aur haar ke jeetne waale ko Baazigar kehte hai” – this is arguably one of the most popular dialogues of SRK. With the 1993 action thriller ‘Baazigar’, he made the antihero a legit leading man in Bollywood. This one is a powerful revenge drama, also starring Shilpa Shetty and Kajol.
2. Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge: "Bade Bade deshon mein aaisi choti choti baatein hoti rehti hain... Senorita!” – one of the most iconic dialogues ever delivered by King Khan. The 1995 romantic film, co-starring Kajol, is considered one of SRK and Kajol’s best movies of all time. The film beautifully blended emotions, romance, high-end drama and heart-touching music.
3. Kuch Kuch Hota Hai: While it is hard to pick one dialogue from the many memorable dialogues in the movie, one that we were instantly reminded of is -- “Hum ek baar jeete hai, ek baar marte hai, shaadi bhi ek baar hoti hai aur pyaar bhi ek baar hota hai.” The movie marked the directorial debut of Karan Johar and starred Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji in the lead roles. It released in 1998 and remains a fan favourite even today.
4. Chak De! India: The 2007 film gave us some of the most iconic dialogues. And one that we definitely can’t forget to mention is SRK’s powerful “Sattar minute” dialogue. Breaking his image of the ultimate romantic hero, SRK played the role of hockey coach Kabir Khan and it was truly one of his finest performances. Before the hockey world cup final game, Kabir Khan (SRK) told his team, "Sattar minute, sirf sattar minute hai tumhare paas. Shayad yeh tumhare zindagi ke sabse khaas sattar minute hai. Aaj tum achha khelo ya bura khelo, ye sattar minute tumhe zindagi bhar yaad rahenge.”
5. Jawan: Shah Rukh Khan's ‘Jawan’, directed by Atlee and co-starring Nayanthara and Vijay Sethupathi, rewrote box office records since it released on September 7, 2023. With the blockbuster release, SRK gave us many iconic dialogues. One that stands out the most for us is – “Bete ko haath lagaane se pehle, baap se baat kar.”
It remains to be seen how many unforgettable dialogues will Shah Rukh Khan deliver in his next film 'Dunki', slated to release in December 2023. The movie, directed by Rajkumar Hirani, will be going up against Prabhas and Prashanth Neel's 'Salaar'. It will also feature Taapsee Pannu, Vicky Kaushal and Boman Irani.
