Shahid Kapoor recently opened up about one character of his that he would like to revisit and play differently.

Shahid Kapoor, who has been a part of Bollywood for two decades now, has become one of the most bankable actors in the Hindi film industry. He has shown his versatility by portraying diverse characters in movies like ‘Haider’, ‘Kaminey’, ‘Kabir Singh’ and ‘Ishq Vishk’. For Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s magnum opus ‘Padmaavat’ (2018), Shahid Kapoor played the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh. While he received immense appreciation from the viewers and critics, he recently revealed that he did not like himself in the period drama.

In a recent conversation with Humans of Bombay, Shahid Kapoor said that he was “uptight” in the film, which also starred Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh in the lead roles. He added that if given a chance, he would like to revisit and perform it differently.

Shahid Kapoor was asked to name one character of his that he would like to revisit and play differently in the recent interaction. The Bollywood actor said that he would like to replay the role of Maharawal Ratan Singh.

He said, “I did not like myself. I was so uptight. I think I did not bring out other elements of that personality, I got stuck in a headspace. I am being candid, maybe other people liked me, but I did not.”

Shahid Kapoor has been quite vocal about his experience of working with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in ‘Padmaavat’. The Bollywood actor had once shared that he felt like an outsider on the sets of the period drama.

He had told DNA, “I’m used to being the favourite of all my filmmakers. This was the first time that I was like an outsider. When you work with a team that has worked together, you are kind of an outsider and it takes time for you to break through that barrier.”

Talking about ‘Padmaavat’, it celebrated a Rajput queen’s willingness to die rather than give herself over to a tyrant who coveted her. It starred Deepika Padukone in the titular role, Shahid Kapoor played her husband Ratan Singh and Ranveer Singh essayed the role of Alauddin Khilji.

Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor was recently seen in the web series ‘Farzi’ opposite Raashi Khanna and Vijay Sethupathi.

He will next be seen in Ali Abbas Zafar’s action-thriller, ‘Bloody Daddy’. The film, which is a remake of the 2011 French movie ‘Sleepless Night’, will stream on Jio Cinemas on June 9. The film also stars Ronit Roy, Sanjay Kapoor and Rajeev Khandelwal.
