Shahid Kapoor will be headlining 'Ashwatthama-The Saga Continues'.

Shahid Kapoor who just delivered a box office hit in 2024 with 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya', is all set to headline a mythological drama. It has been confirmed that the actor will be headlining 'Ashwatthama-The Saga Continues'. The upcoming Hindi film will delve into the legend of the immortal warrior Ashwatthama from the epic 'Mahabharata'

"Ashwatthama, the immortal warrior cursed by his past, must embrace his destined role as a hero, unleashing his true power to defeat the dark forces and restore harmony to the world on the brink of chaos," the official synopsis of the film reads.

Nothing else has been revealed regarding the project, and it is now known when the film will be released in theatres. However, it has been confirmed that post-release, the Hindi movie will be available for streaming on Prime Video.

'Ashwatthama-The Saga Continues' is being produced by Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, and Deepshikha Deshmukh. The film is being directed by Sachin Ravi.

The announcement of Shahid headlining the film was made during an Amazon Prime Video event in Mumbai.

Earlier, Aditya Dhar was supposed to make a film on this mythological character. The film was supposed to star Vicky Kaushal as the lead, however, the idea was dropped. 

At the trailer launch event of 'Article 370' starring Yami Gautam and Priyamani, Aditya Dhar had said that the mythological superhero actioner was “too big” for the Indian cinema.

Speaking of Shahid's latest release 'Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya', the film has gone past the Rs 85 crore mark in India. The movie also stars Kriti Sanon, Dimple Kapadia, and Dharmendra.
