Shark Tank India judge Anupam Mittal has made some shocking comments about Shah Rukh Khan-starrer 'Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge' and Salman Khan's 'Tere Naam'. He also talked about why he lost interest in Bollywood movies in the 90s. He also gave examples of Karan Johar and Sooraj Barjatya on how the duo presented an unreal depiction of marriages and family life.

When asked by Anupama Chopra on the All About Movies podcast about 'DDLJ', Anupam Mittal said: "It’s quite regressive, in many ways. What is love, what is marriage? If you look at weddings, right from the time of the Barjatya films or the Karan Johar type of films, the big fat Indian wedding has become such a thing. People get married for the wedding ceremony, not because they want to uphold the traditions of a marriage… They are so focused on that event. Bollywood has given us a convoluted idea of marriage.”

“We are naive, we are gullible. We believe what we are shown… There was this Salman film in which he’s obsessed with a girl, and Shah Rukh did that film, the one with k-k-Kiran," he added.

Further talking about the same, Anupam Mittal said: "These are not healthy behaviours, ke koi dekhe usko maar do, apne aap ko kaato, kood jao. These are regressive, negative behaviours. And to some extent, our audience is naive and restricted. We fall for it, because we are looking for an escape from the drudgery of our lives.”

For the unversed, Anupam Mittal is the founder of matchmaking website Shaadi.com.

He became a household name after appearing as one of the sharks on the reality show 'Shark Tank India'.
