Wondering Why Deepika Padukone Has Been Missing From ‘Fighter’ Promotions? Siddharth Anand Spills The Beans
Director Siddharth Anand recently opened up about Deepika Padukone’s absence from ‘Fighter’ promotions.
The excitement surrounding Deepika Padukone and Hrithik Roshan's first collaboration together ‘Fighter’ is skyrocketing. The film, directed by Siddharth Anand of ‘War’ and ‘Pathaan’ fame, also stars Anil Kapoor, Karan Singh Grover, Akshay Oberoi and Sanjeeda Sheikh. While Hrithik Roshan and Anil Kapoor have been actively promoting the film, Deepika Padukone was notably absent from the film’s trailer launch and other promotional events. Director Siddharth Anand has now revealed the reason behind her absence from ‘Fighter’ promotions, putting tiff rumours to rest.
During an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Siddharth Anand was asked about the reason for Deepika Padukone’s absence from the film’s promotions.
Speaking about the same, the ‘Fighter’ director said, “This is a promotional strategy that we have taken. You will start seeing Deepika from tomorrow everywhere. People put a lot of conjectures into things. Deepika was supposed to come for the trailer launch, but she was under the weather. And now she is going to be everywhere; our strategy is such.”
The filmmaker further said that ‘Fighter’ promotions would be incomplete without Deepika Padukone. He said, “Obviously, we can’t do without Deepika.”
Siddharth Anand added, “Deepika and Hrithik’s pair is one of the major highlights. And it’s a huge excitement for me as a filmmaker to see both of them (together). So, I can imagine that even the audience is waiting for (her). You will start seeing them closer to the release. Also, we didn’t want too much of Hrithik and Deepika before the release. We wanted people to enjoy them on the big screen. We didn’t want that saturation.”
‘Fighter’ features Hrithik Roshan as Squadron Leader Shamsher Pathania, Deepika Padukone as Squadron Leader Minal Rathore and Anil Kapoor as Group Captain Rakesh Jai Singh.
For the unversed, ‘Fighter’ is reportedly based on the 2019 Pulwama attack and how India responded in the aftermath of the incident.
The runtime of the film was revealed recently, and ‘Fighter’ is 2 hours and 46 minutes long. The film has received a U/A certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). ‘Fighter’ is being touted as India's first aerial action film.
For the unversed, ‘Fighter’ is the third collaboration between Hrithik Roshan and Siddharth Anand after ‘Bang Bang’ and ‘War’. The upcoming movie is also the third collaboration between Deepika Padukone and Siddharth Anand after ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ and ‘Pathaan’.
