“Got Indian Singers Replaced By Pakistanis”: Abhijeet Bhattacharya Reignites Feud With Salman Khan
The feud between playback singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya and Bollywood superstar Salman Khan is not getting over anytime soon.
It seems like the feud between Indian playback singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya and Bollywood megastar Salman Khan is not getting over anytime soon. For the unversed, Abhijeet, in 2015, appeared to have commented on Salman Khan's hit-and-run case, suggesting that homeless people should not be sleeping on the streets like "dogs". Later, he accused the 'Bajrangi Bhaijaan' actor of favouring singers from Pakistan and he still maintains the same stance. In an interview with Celebrania Studios YouTube channel, Abhijeet once again spoke about his equation with Salman Khan.
“I don’t think he even deserves to be hated by me. Salman has been successful only because of the goodwill that he has, he isn’t a god, nor should he think of himself as one," said Abhijeet Bhattacharya, as quoted by The Indian Express.
Abhijeet Bhattacharya also clarified that he never tweeted in support of Salman Khan in 2015, saying, “How could people ever think that I would speak in support of such a man, who only promotes artists from enemy countries? Just to show his loyalty towards Pakistan, he got big Indian singers replaced by Pakistanis. Not just one, he got the top Indian singers dubbed by Pakistani artists. This was all deliberate.”
For the unversed, Salman Khan had once gotten Arijit Singh replaced by Rahat Fateh Ali Khan. Abhijeet did not directly mention it. However, his statement can be considered a reference to that.
“It’s shameful. Arijit is the biggest singer in the country, and he should never have begged Salman to take him back. Instead, he should have turned his back. Sometimes I wonder if he’s even a Bengali," said Abhijeet Bhattacharya.
Arijit Singh and Salman Khan also had a long-standing feud. However, the duo buried the hatchet after the singer lent his voice for two tracks that featured in Salman Khan’s recently-released film ‘Tiger 3’, which also stars Katrina Kaif and Emraan Hashmi.
Talking about ‘Tiger 3’, the film has been directed by Maneesh Sharma. It is yet to cross the Rs 300 crore mark in India, and with ‘Animal’ and ‘Sam Bahadur’ performing well, it looks unlikely that Salman Khan will walk away with a Rs 300 crore film.
The actor will reportedly next be seen in ‘The Bull’, directed by Vishnu Vardhan. The film will be produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions.
