She also said that she makes it very clear to the director about her wants and needs.

"In my entire career, I don't think I have lost out on anything, which has had a kissing scene or an intimate scene. I have always made it clear to my director, filmmaker that I am working with, that this is not something I am comfortable with. Totally upto to you, if you still want to go ahead with me, if you think that I can bring something to the table as an actor, I will do the film but please find a way around that, let's work it out," Sonakshi Sinha told ETimes.

"Or you are very free to go to someone else who is comfortable doing that. So the option is always open," she added.

Earlier, in an interview with News18 Showsha, Sonakshi Sinha had also discussed her character's gender identity in 'Heeramandi'.

"Initially, sir (Bhansali) had told me that Fareedan is very fluid. Sonakshi referred to the subtle hints at Fareedan’s sexual preferences in the show. At that point of time, a lot of it did happen. And in a place like Heeramandi, people were very open about it. Even Ustadji is an openly gay man. Sir wanted to explore it in different ways. What Fareedan has been through in her life also has impacted her in a way," she said.

Sonakshi Sinha also revealed how veteran actress Rekha was impressed by her performance in the new Hindi web series.

"It was magical. I saw a screening like that after years. That was one of the biggest premieres I’ve been to in my entire career. I met so many people that day. But Rekha ma’am went gaga over Heeramandi and was so supportive and encouraging,” recalled Sonakshi, adding, “She told me such beautiful things that I was just awe-struck," she said.

"I couldn’t believe my ears that Rekha ji was praising me. I’ll always remember that one conversation with her. She always tells my mum that she’s my ‘other mumma’. There’s a lot of love between us. We had a beautiful moment together," she added.

Apart from Sonakshi Sinha, 'Heeramandi' also stars Manisha Koirala, Richa Chadha, Aditi Rao Hydari, Sharmin Segal, Fardeen Khan, and Shekar Suman.
