Swastika Mukherjee Says "No One Should Play Robi Thakur" After Anupam Kher Shares Pic As Rabindranath Tagore

Swastika Mukherjee is not pleased with a new movie being made on Rabindranath Tagore.

Recently, 'The Kashmir Files' actor Anupam Kher had announced that he will be essaying the role of Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore in a new movie. He had also shared a still from the movie on social media, however, his look generated mixed reviews. Now in the latest entertainment news, it seems actress Swastika Mukherjee is not pleased, as she took to Twitter to say that no one should play Rabindranath Tagore.

Taking to Twitter, Swastika said: "No one should play Robi Thakur. Leave the man alone."

Many users also commented on her post, saying Swastika is saying the right thing.

"No one should use Rabi Thakur's songs in any form in their movies. Leave his creation alone first then lecture," wrote one user.

"Totally agree," commented another user.

"No one should play Rabi Thakur for a purpose," wrote another user.

"Tagore was a brilliant Thinker and an exceptional poet. He has a huge contribution in shaping modern Bengalis.  His story must be told," commented another user.

Last week, Anupam Kher had taken to Twitter to announce that he would be playing the celebrated poet in his 538th film.

“Delighted to portray #Gurudev #RabindranathTagore in my 538th project. Will reveal the details in due course. Ye mere saubhagya hai ki mujhe gurudev ko parde par saakaar karne ka saubhagya parpt hua hai. Jald hi is film ki adhik jankaari apke sath sanjha krunga," he tweeted.

On Monday, the actor had also met Oscar-winning music composer MM Keeravaani. In the video posted on Instagram, Kher said: "“What a great, amazing honour to hold sir’s Oscar in my hand. The world has applauded you and India is so proud of you and the fact that you gave it in my hands. One day I will make you proud.”

On the workfront, Anupam Kher has Vivek Agnihotri directorial 'The Vaccine War', Telugu film Tiger 'Nagewara Rao', and Kannada film 'Ghost' in the pipeline.
