“Reflects Social Condition Of Country”: ‘Thalapathy 68’ Cinematographer Siddhartha Nuni Calls ‘Animal’ “Triggering”
Cinematographer Siddhartha Nuni called out Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s ‘Animal’, starring Ranbir Kapoor.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s latest directorial venture ‘Animal’, starring Ranbir Kapoor in the lead role, has emerged as a box office monster. The new Hindi movie, co-starring Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Triptii Dimri and Shakti Kapoor, has also been scrutinised on social media for its themes and narrative. Many people have also expressed concerns about how the Sandeep Reddy Vanga directorial depicts its women characters. While several celebrities have shown their support for the new Hindi movie, some have also called out the makers.
Cinematographer Siddhartha Nuni, who is now busy shooting for Tamil superstar Thalapathy Vijay's upcoming movie tentatively titled ‘Thalapathy 68’, joined the list of celebrities and gave his two cents about ‘Animal’.
Siddhartha Nuni took to his Instagram Stories and called out the film, stating how “triggering” it was for him and going into detail about the aspects he found less than appealing in ‘Animal’.
He wrote, “I had watched the film 'Animal' yesterday and honestly the film had triggered me no end. The films Nazi glorifying (wearing the swastika on the chest), justifying toxic masculinity with random alpha male theories, the no holds barred violence with no rule of law, marital rape, abusive relationships where the woman is relegated to being a mute bystander while the husband behaves like a brute.”
The cinematographer further said, “And the last shot of the film where the character of Ranbir Kapoor signals to the audience to come and suck his p***s were beyond redemption and abusive to the audience'minds. The fact that this film has collected so much money reflects the social condition of the country we live in? And for an A rated film, I have seen young children in the audience at a popular multiplex in Hyderabad.”
Siddhartha Nuni also questioned, “Where is the censorship and the responsibility to protect the young minds?”

‘Animal’ tells the story of a man named Ranvijay Singh (Ranbir Kapoor) looking for validation from his emotionally distant father played by Anil Kapoor. Ranvijay Singh gets on a warpath after an assassination attempt is made on his father.
Despite the growing wave of criticism against the film, ‘Animal’ continues to perform well at the box office by raking in more than Rs 460 crore in India.
