Preview of ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’ is out.

Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan has officially arrived, and he's not playing it safe. The highly anticipated preview of ‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’ – marking Shah Rukh Khan’s son’s directorial debut – dropped on Wednesday and instantly generated buzz. The upcoming Netflix series is a biting satire on the world of Bollywood, pulling back the curtain on the chaos, clichés, and convoluted journey behind the making of a star. The recently released teaser kicked off with Shah Rukh Khan’s voiceover, warning that the city of dreams isn’t meant for everyone.

We’re then introduced to Lakshya’s character, Aasman Singh, a rising actor hungry for more than just stardom. His friend, played by Raghav Juyal, is seen riding high on the success of his latest blockbuster ‘Revolver’. Bobby Deol makes an imposing entry as India’s biggest superstar, Ajay Talvar, while Karan Johar delivers a hilariously expletive-laden cameo. The preview ends on a high with surprise appearances from Salman Khan and Ranveer Singh.

But what truly grabbed attention was the final scene – Lakshya’s character is seen being dragged to jail, prompting a cop to quip, “Don’t worry, people become more famous after being locked up.” The internet quickly connected the dots, with fans pointing out the clear reference to Aryan Khan’s own 2021 arrest in a drug-related case.

One comment read, “At the end he just made fun of himself—loved it!” Others called it a moment of rare self-deprecating genius.

In case you missed it, Aryan Khan had spent 22 days in Arthur Road jail after being arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau during a high-profile cruise drug raid in 2021. The subtle nod to his personal controversy in the trailer was seen as bold and refreshingly honest.

At the preview launch event, Aryan Khan also addressed the media for the first time. Visibly nervous, he joked about preparing a backup of his speech – both on a teleprompter and a printed version taped onto Shah Rukh’s back.

Shah Rukh stood at one corner of the stage as Aryan Khan took the focus at the centre and said, “Lagatar practice kiya jaa raha hoon. In fact, main itna nervous hoon ki maine teleprompter pe bhi likwa diya hai aur just in case yaha ki bijli chali jaaye main kaagaz ke tukde pe nhi likh ke laya hoon! Torch ke saath. Aur agar tab bhi mujhse mistake ho jaaye… toh papa hain na!”

Shah Rukh turned to show a printout of the speech pasted on his back as Aryan Khan added, “Aur iss sab ke baad bhi mujhse galti ho jaaye toh mujhe please maaf kar dena ye mera first time hai.”

‘The Ba***ds of Bollywood’ stars Sahher Bamba and Lakshya in lead roles and boasts an ensemble cast including Bobby Deol, Manoj Pahwa, Mona Singh, and others. The series will begin streaming on Netflix from September 18.
