'The Kerala Story' Trailer Synopsis Changed Amid Controversy; Congress MP Shashi Tharoor Reacts

Adah Sharma-starrer 'The Kerala Story' continues to make headlines. Ever since the trailer was released last week, the movie has been embroiled in a controversy regarding the subject matter it is trying to portray. The trailer originally stated that the film is based on the stories of more than 32,000 Kerala women who have allegedly been radicalised by Islamic fundamentalists. However, amid huge backlash, the makers have now changed the trailer synopsis, and the revised version states that the film is based on the “true stories of three young girls from different parts of Kerala.”
As soon as this development surfaced, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor reacted, and he tweeted: "The plot thickens. The filmmakers have updated the movie’s description on YouTube and changed ‘32,000 women’ to ‘3 women’… I rest my case.”

Earlier, several leaders including Shashi Tharoor, had questioned the makers regarding the subject matter which is being shown by the makers.
'The Kerala Story' has been directed by Sudipto Sen, while it is bankrolled by Vipul Amrutlal Shah.
Earlier, Kerala Congress leader MM Hassan had called for a ban on the movie, saying it can create communal disharmony.
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had also accused the filmmakers of spreading propaganda.
'The Kerala Story' stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Idnani and Sonia Balani in lead roles.
The movie is slated to release in the theatres this Friday (May 5).
‘The Kerala Story’ trailer opens with a picturesque terrain of Kerala and it then we are introduced to the lead character Shalini Unnikrishnan, played by Adah Sharma.
